unclocked multi, wonder what levels this thing can hit with water, might give an expensive e8600 a run for its money and at that cheap price as well.

its like amd vs intel within intel.

Then again, it might not. 13 seconds for SuperPi at 4.5GHZ isn't lightening fast. If the price is low it may be useful to some.

thats because its just a dual core though, dual cores aren't really there for timings etc, just for gaming and good windows performance/multi tasking.

The lack of cache will have hurt the SuperPi run, but nevertheless it'll be interesting to see how cheap these will be.

SuperPI only utilises one core, so it doesn't matter how many cores the CPU has.

Unlocked multi ? for retail ? in the mid -range ? looks like Intel are learning from AMD.
And can we all please forget about super pi ? Its by far the most un-representative benchmark ever made. If your one of the handful of mathematicians that really cares about super pi performance, you already know about it and are probably doing more interesting things with your time than reading forums.

Hmm can't see them listed with any UK disties, if it is on the roadmap at $84 then thats $3 more than the E6300 so I would expect it to sell maybe £5 more than the E6300.

More info

"We guess “Limited Edition” means it’s available in China only, which has been officially confirmed by Intel. Daniel Snyder, Intel’s spokesman, told Xbitlabs that “This is a PRC-only pilot for now. At the end of the pilot, Intel will determine what, if any other similar product should be offered in other geographies."
