Intel’s Price Reduction on July 22

Oh no, I've read 22 july as 22 june, stupid me :( , was lookign very odd today when i checked the pricing, I though like: wth, why do shops still overprice it ??? ), ahwell 1 more month.

Does anyone know how long the price reductions would take to filter through to Overclockers?

I would like to order my new PC within the next week (E6600), but I wll consider holding off for a Q6600. An E6600 on OC is about £150...how much would a Q6600 be on OC come July 22nd?

Filter, what's all this filter rubbish I keep hearing from various people?

The prices will have changed on or before the 22nd July, however if you look at what happened last time OCUK said there's had dropped a few days before and put them on This Week Only saying they would not get any cheaper (to be fair they did have best prices on the web 3 days before official cut), so people could get them early. Oh then the reduced them the following week.

Prices will fluctuate as well due to variations in the $-£ curreny market.

If the reductions are as we think im gonna give a rough estimate to be between £165 and £185.

cheapest from Germany ... Core 2 Duo E6850 = 252:00 Euros (about £170.00) so I think German price for Q6600 will be similar.

Hi guys - sorry to jump in here, but it seems lively.

How do one of the cores in (say) the E6600 compare to a single-core AMD64 3700+ when running a process?

A bit of knowledge about this comparison would help me decide between the Quad or the Duo :)

Tia!

PS: I'm not a quad-sucker; I run an awful lot simultaneously

Mmm couldn't wait any longer and bought the Q6600 yesterday for £220 shipped.

Hopefully those prices will be similar in the UK then my secondary system can get a much needed upgrade to a E6600.

A little bit of advice here price wise reading what Markus123 posted above.

Lets say for example I bought an OCUK £300 (ish) bundle including the E6600 - in July would the Q6600 come to the same price or do you think it will still be a lot more?

What price do you think that £300 (ish) bundle with the E6600 be in July?

Probably £150+ for the Q6600 and around £90-£100 for the e6600.

OK - same question.

(or when the price reductions hit).

In the UK the Q6600 will be £180:00 or very close to that figure. The Core 2 Duo E6850 is already listed at £180.00.

In the US Q6600 "G0" steppings are on pre-order for £145. So I'm hoping we will get "G0" chips here straight away too

Are these price cuts all that fantastic?

For the high end CPUs it is very good (but the quad is already stupidly high in price).
The mid-range CPUs only appear to drop by ~£10 (e6540 & e6550) compared to the e6420.

e6420 is currently £113
e6450 will be $163-> £82 add on "over priced Britain" -> ~£90 - £100

Same chips just factory overclocked?

I want a Q6600 because at even £180 it's a massive price drop from what they were, the Q6600's will outsell the E6850's, it's the chip most people are waiting for
