Interesting fact regarding the Audi RS cars

R32 looks much nicer than the plain S3 tbh. I wish VW would put a more manly engine in the R32.

R32 looks dull and boring in the flesh - walked past one the other day. It wasn't until I walked past again the other way that I even noticed it was an R32. It's got nowhere near the presence of the Mk4.

Each to their own I suppose. I personally think the MK4 R32 looks plain in the same way the S3 does. I appreciate there isn't much that separates the R32 from the other MK5 Golfs, but there is still something I love about them.

Hi there

Ooops forget I'd mentioned the 911 Turbo, but yes the 4WD, Turbo's and creature comforts add weight. They are between 1640-1680kg depending on specification. Not sure if the newer 997 is slightly heavier or lighter, can't remember.

that's obscene, i didn't realise. do be expected with rs4 and m5 though i suppose.

Hi there

Yep and thats why the GT3 is practically as quick, because it only weighs 1380kg.

So hence why I say the Mustang is not that heavy when compared against grand tourers from Europe. Look at the Mercs for example, now those are overweight as think they weigh more than the M5.

If I go Z06 route, its got the Mustangs power but only weighs in at 1419kg.

I was watching Top Gear today and saw the Noble M15, are these out yet? If so how much and liked how they commented how it was such a great car that is a giant killer but then further comments on how the Z06 was faster again, another giant car. Both the Z06 and M15 did the TG track quicker than a Zonda which is some going. :)

About 5 years ago to have 300+ BHP was considered really quick, wheras now 400BHP is getting the norm with 500BHP and 600BHP been considered the more powerful cars.

Pretty much the same thing could be said with regard to truck engine output!

Ok, torque wise, cars have a long way to go! - 3000nm for example from a 620Bhp Scania.

None the less, I found it very strange to look down on the e60 M5 that was along side me earlier today and consider that it has 27bhp more than my 480 bhp truck!!!!

I wonder how long before both cars & trucks are knocking on the door of 1000bhp?

To be honest, 300bhp still is really quick. Infact, to most people, 200bhp is really quick.

It's very easy to lose sight of the real world, where to 95% of people, a 2 litre diesel Golf is 'really quick'.

Always remember sitting next to a couple of guys discussing cars on the train; were talking about a TDCi Mondeo. It was agreed they are "frighteningly quick" :D

I know what you mean.

The 193bhp in my 728i is enough for double the national limit! - Hardly the performance end of the model range either!

Also, the 204bhp Sierra Cosworth (if you can still find one thats not had a chip swap)

Its the Power to weight ratio that counts, not so much the power figure ultimately I guess.

Back on topic, interesting info on the Audis there mate, I had'nt realised. :)

from what i found, after some very brief googling that is, the RS4's kerbweight is between 1620 and 1650kg.

Hi there

Well I am going from official Audi figures I had which said the RS4 was 1725kg which is no doubt the EU weight, so a driver, 1/2 tank fuel etc. so to be honest its still an overweight tank.

Anyway when I've driven it I shall let you know what I think and am quite looking forward to it. Be interesting to see how it compares to the FQ360 MR as well. :)

P.S. Just sold the Mustang! :(

Current RS4 Sedan? It weighs 1725kg EU DIN - including 7kg luggage, 68kg driver, 90% full fuel tank and all fluids and lubricants at 100%. 1920kg for the RS4 Cabrio!!

P.S. ?

Surely such a statement deserves a thread in its own right!

I guess I'm missing things you've already posted Gibbo, but,
1, Why goto the expense & time of getting the 'Stang as you did, to sell it so relatively soon?
2, I'll miss seeing it around Fenton!

3, Whats the sale revenue going on! :)

first few results i got all said that.
btw why do they bother adding a 68kg driver and 7 kg luggage?
surely the dry weight gives a more accurate picture?
