Interlagos - Brazilian Grand Prix 2009 - Race 16/17

Bet Barrichello was sick after his terrible Brazil race.

i bet

he needs to get some peace with himself in that sometimes things just arent meant to be, or are in jensons button's case. Usually he would have been about 6th on the grid and in the middle of the first lap pile up.

as it stood he was far back enough to miss it all and rise to 5th before the race ended. plain good luck or fate ? ;) you decide.

he wouldnt have done to bad if hamilton hadnt have gave him a puncture?
he always has crap luck at brazil anyway so i guess it was no suprise

Woudlnt have made any difference, the WDC would still have been won by JB anyway, as Hamilton would have got past him either way with KERS

Rubens just didnt do enough in the first stint;)

Who knows, but for sure it would have been much harder to be as surgical and precise with the overtaking if he had been further up, and the Champion's drive as its been rightly described wouldnt have been so

I still think though that JB in Rubens's pole would have done far better on the day even if Mark had still won

i know but it was hardly the terrible race someone said it was.

jensons would have been happy with a few of those not so long ago ;)

during that phase that you are talking about Jenson never dropped from Pole to 4th before the puncture - so that is what makes it the terrible race I originally called it (and stand by that description);)

No. Hamilton gave Barrichello the puncture as Rubens squeezed him against the pitwall as Hamilton was moving to overtake him. The same contact that broke the righthand front wing endplate on Lewis' car.

Barrichello was complaining of the vibration (that was established to be the puncture) before Hamilton overtook him, so that's not possible. Not sure if there was contact at another point/time though.

bit immaterial - with KERS as an advantage along the pit straight (and Rubens was dog slow anyway) Lewis would have got past him

(I actually thought the puncture was caused by Lewis but much earlier in the lap than the cameras caught)

Button only got ahead of Barrichello because of outside interference (ie. puncture).

Even before that puncture Jenson was in a championship-winning position with Barrichello not being high enough up the order! Sorry sunama, but you aren't going to be able to find a way to take the gloss off Jenson's title no matter what you do ;)

He was complaining of a right rear vibration and the puncture was left rear wasn't it?

I also don't recall there being any mention of the vibration then being confirmed to be the puncture, I do remember Ted mentioning something about it being the wheel Lewis hit that was punctured though.

I don't want to take the shine off of his WDC win.
I've stated numerous times that out of all the drivers/cars this year, he deserved the title, if only for the 6 wins out of 7 races.

The point I am making though, is that he only beat Barrichello in this race due to an extraordinary incident (ie. a puncture to Barrichello's car) and not on merit.
