International football & World Cup Qualifiers 9th Sept **spoilers**

Should have killed the game off after the first goal. However, a win is a win. Crouch, whilst scoring, meant we reverted back to the stupid long ball game again at times which got frustrating.

Lennon was just crap tonight, no point being fast if you can't pass or cross. Rooney and Gerrard were both excellent tonight...and I didn't even realise lampard was playing until almost half time.

In fairness we played more long balls after he went off than when he was on the pitch!!!

Not bad really. Capello obviously tried to shut up shop Italian-style in the second half, but with how nervy the defence looked, there was always a good chance the Ukraine could get one. Cole and Johnson were poor, and Barry and Gerrard* gave the ball away too often as well.

*Example #534 that you can't play Gerrard and Lampard together successfully completed.

Ever wonder why he's never got an England call up?

He's awful.
He's never got an England cap because he's behind a whole ton of quality players in the pecking order, and he's still suffering from the same reputation you're branding him with. If you'd actually seen him play for Wigan this season you might have noticed he's actually been pretty good.

Beckham just proving how utterly pointless Lennon is when playing against men instead of boys tbh. Could Lennon have put a proper ball like that in, something that causes confusion in the defence? No.
Lennon put a handful of decent crosses in during the first half, and wouldn't have been taking the free kick anyway. We scored off an equally well-placed corner in the first half that Beckham had no hand in.

/Jagielka on. Oh ****
Yeah he was terrible wasn't he.

Thought Lampard played well tonight. Stayed back and did the dirty work well unlike Barry who got the ball and either lost it or fouled an opponent.

He's been better than his usual retarded self but good?

hahahah :D

Don't make me laugh!

James: 4
Johnson: 6
Ferdinand: 7
Terry: 5
Cole: 1
Lennon: 4
Gerrard: 7
Lampard: 6
Barry: 0
Rooney: 7
Crouch: 5
Beckham: 6

My ratings for the players who had time on the pitch. The scores are pretty self explanitory

Agree there tbh

lulwut? Since when did reputation bother Capello? Owen was dropped like he'd scuttled Mrs Capello and wiped his **** on their curtains, Heskey was brought back from the donkey sanctuary - FC plays whoever is playing well.

No swearing!

A 'handful' of good crosses? Who's hand, Abu Hamza? Lennon can run, that's it. At least Backham can cross, pick out long passes, pick out short passes, spread the play, take decent corners/set pieces...

Who here said Bramble was good?
I need to shake his hand because he doesn't share the same blinkered views as 99% of the country. Bramble has been superb at times this season and showing what a good defender he can be.

^^ Oh dear, Ferdinand 7 :o

He was no better than any of the other defensive players.

Edit: Actually he was a lot better than Cole and James just not Terry and Johnson.

Ferdinands positioning was superb and he cut out ball after ball, the fact is he didn't make close to the mistakes the others did. Terry gave the foul for their free kick goal, Cole got caught out all game and Johnson, whilst playing well, also gave a lot of fouls away. Ferdinand got penalised for jumping on someones shoulders in the 7th minute. That's why Ferdinand got a 7, he didn't get a good enough challenge to get a higher mark, but by making no mistakes he also didn't get marked down.

what's with Pleat and Lennon ?
What's with this forum and Lennon? Slagging him off seems to be the cool thing to do on here  Much worse players on the pitch tonight yet who gets the most comments even though he didn't really do much wrong?
James needs to **** off

Barry needs to stop fouling everyone at every opportunity

Lennon should be shot in a park

Rooney is an utter legend
Rooney is a petulant child and a lot of refs would have sent him off... had that been an important World Cup semi away from Wembley what do you think would have happened? The guy is a liability.... far from a legend.

Very wasteful with the ball tonight I thought.

Lennon did ok considering Ukraine worked hard to stop him getting the ball. When he did I thought he did put some good crosses in did he not?

Barry was poor and so was Ashley Cole.
