International football & World Cup Qualifiers 9th Sept **spoilers**

What's with this forum and Lennon? Slagging him off seems to be the cool thing to do on here  Much worse players on the pitch tonight yet who gets the most comments even though he didn't really do much wrong?

Lennon did ok considering Ukraine worked hard to stop him getting the ball. When he did I thought he did put some good crosses in did he not?

Barry was poor and so was Ashley Cole.

I don't even bother anymore when this comes up.

Who here said Bramble was good?
I need to shake his hand because he doesn't share the same blinkered views as 99% of the country. Bramble has been superb at times this season and showing what a good defender he can be.

He's nowhere near International level though.

He was superb at times at Newcastle, he's never consistent though.

His better form this season is down to playing for a smaller club, IMO, as there's less pressure on him now.

Rooney is a petulant child and a lot of refs would have sent him off... had that been an important World Cup semi away from Wembley what do you think would have happened? The guy is a liability.... far from a legend.

Very wasteful with the ball tonight I thought.

Don't get upset dude :/ Lennon was **** and always has been for England, it was discussed at length the other night, he's useless beating players if he crosses as well as my Mrs.

Rooney's tackle was nasty yeah I agree but that was also the kind of passion that had their defence running round like headless chickens for most of the game, take that away from him and we will be relying on the likes of Crouch/Heskey/Cole and dare I say it Bent to score in the World Cup :/

lulwut? Since when did reputation bother Capello? Owen was dropped like he'd scuttled Mrs Capello and wiped his dick on their curtains, Heskey was brought back from the donkey sanctuary - FC plays whoever is playing well.
Fair point, but I wasn't actually saying he deserved a call-up. There's still no reason I'd choose him over options England have in the middle, but he's certainly not as terrible as he's labelled.

A 'handful' of good crosses? Who's hand, Abu Hamza? Lennon can run, that's it.
Did you miss the first half? I saw him put the ball in the box several times, both deep and from the touchline. Other players were far worse in squandering possesion than he was.

At least Backham can cross, pick out long passes, pick out short passes, spread the play, take decent corners/set pieces...
We don't need Beckham to take our freekicks and corners though. We have Gerrard and Lampard for that. As I said before, we scored off a Lampard(?) corner in the first half just fine.

I wouldn't say he's 'nowhere' near, Matthew Upson plays for England and I'd say Bramble is much better than him.
I do think playing for Wigan has had a massive impact, but I'd put that down to a good manager and former CB, Steve Bruce.

People only ever remember Brambles mares, that video is a perfect example, the own goal was shown for 30 seconds but it really wasn't that bad. All the best CB's have scored own goals.

Rooneys tackle was indeed terrible.
It makes me angry hearing the likes of Townsend saying you can never take this from him and hearing Beckham going further and saying you shouldn't.
The fact is he can be aggressive without being violent and he can be passionate without being petulant.
It's just a case of growing up.
In this I feel SAF has failed him greatly.
However, wasteful with the ball? He was Englands best player by a country mile.
Lenon was average on the night. Certainly not deserving of some of the abuse/criticism here but nothing to shout home about either.
Beckham proved his worth once again.
You may think hes a "jerk". You may point out he doesn't score goals, cant tackle, cant run and has no left foot.
You may even be right.
But at international level Beckham = goals.
Until we have more players this is true of, he deserves his caps.

I didn't see Lennon put a single poor ball into the box tonight though but I saw a few good ones so why all the comments from everyone? Beat his man all but once? Unjustified and just seems like everyones trying to do the 'in' thing on here?

What good is being a hothead though if he's taking an early bath and leaving us a man down? He's an easy target to wind up.

The irony is all I saw was Rooney running round like a headless chicken with very little end product.... ;)

It's not like anyone has been particularly good though...

Gerrard, Lampard, Johnson and Rooney haven't been bad. Ashley Cole has stunk the place out, cost us one goal and had we had stiffer opposition than the 2 donkey teams we have just played, would have cost us more.

Beckham proved his worth once again.
Gaaaaahhh. Can somebody please tell me why Beckham is getting so much praise for an indirect free kick when people can't even tell me who took the first half corner that contributed just as much towards an England goal?

Exactly, agree with you on Rooney.

Yeah Lennon wasn't great or anything but as I said in above post he only failed to beat his man once and got some good, dangerous crosses in the box. Also tracked back well which is one part of his game he's improved massively, any Spurs fan will agree with me there. Reading here though and every other post is always about how crap he is.... just get bored of reading it. I usually just ignore tbh.

Beckham isn't a jerk, he's still a quality player but I thought we looked less threatening when he replaced young Aaron.

Beckham was a cool head when needed, not needlessly kicking the ball quickly, he picked out his man time and time again much in the same way Gerrard or Lampard do. I thought Beckham was very good when he played, sadly most of his involvement was throughout the whole teams quiet patch, but when he did get it it was distributed very nicely.

Because Beckham does it consistently?
Two cameos and two assists this week isnt it?

You have a real chip on your shoulder regarding anything 'Man Utd'. Week after week, these pop shots. Lennon had very little support on the right tonight but to say that you didn't see Lennon put a single poor ball into the box? You're blind mate. Simple as. He's a young lad and will improve, he doesn't deserve the bashing he gets at times, other times he deserves the criticism. Rooney was a headless chicken tonight? Lennon wouldn't have seen the ball tonight if Rooney didn't pass to him. No one else was.
