He really hasn't been Poo at all. You really need to watch what players do off the ball as well as on it before judging them. He has played well and he has linked play nicely
 
Townsend has got to be one of the very worst commentators there is, right up there with Nial Quinn.

Also, great challenge by Gerrard, never a foul in a million years.

Gerrard could score the winning goal in the World Cup and put in the greatest final performance ever but he'd still get criticism because...











he's not Lampard.
 
Hodgson's influence is already quite telling. The two banks of 4 are playing very deep and Norway are struggling to break us down. Problems will come when better passing teams rip us to pieces and we need to get back in to a game.

As you know i'm not his biggest fan but credit where credit is due. Good formation and good performance from Gerrard.

As for not building teams around stellar players well.............................pfft. I'm sure it worked for Argentina with Maradona etc
 
Yeah, Gerrard has been great(just watching him lose control of the ball extremely carelessly... again), his closing down is lazy, he's given the ball away repeatedly, his link up play is poor, trying to flick it on to players who have long since moved, he has hit a couple poor long balls and he's got the ball and being unable to find a decent long run decided to pass backwards rather than moving a few yards, making an angle and passing forwards.

AS for being harsh to boo Gerrard, off the floor, full pace, studs showing, high, caught the player.... great tackle, no really.

Agreed, great tackle.

Caught him on the follow through, won the ball as cleanly as you possibly can. Wasnt even a foul.
 
Wasn't a great tackle really, just stupid and excessive and always likely to injure somebody. Although the passhun lovers will defend it predictably. Aside from that he had a half of football to rival John Terry's first half masterclass vs Liverpool recently
 
Meh, not bad but not that great.

Some shocking drops of concentration from Gerrard, Jones, Milner and Jagielka in particular to lose possession. Nice goal from Young, that was about the one bright moment. Would have been 2-0 if Carroll could manage a simple pass across to Young. Stupid tackle from Gerrard, getting the ball is not the point, it was studs up and he went straight through the player afterwards and injured him.

Commentary was nauseating.

Hodgson could win the world cup without losing a game but would still get criticised

Exactly was a well timed strong tackle.. unluckily the chap got caught and had to be subbed off. That's football.. Stevie is a master of that timed tackle when he wants to be.

1-0 not a great performance but certainly not that shabby either.

How is it unlucky? You run full pelt and lunge at a player with studs up and it's unlucky that you catch him? Would be tricky to have missed him doing a tackle like that.
