Internet Dating.....Who Has Done it?!

Just trying to play it semi-cool with the girl now, said she's gonna let me know when she can come to my town so I'm going to leave it at that. Weird though it feels like we went out last week not just yesterday! Good times ahead hopefully.

So, in the interest of Science, I browse the free one (OKcupid?)... I found out, quite quickly, I have too high standards. I dismissed girls solely on their grammar and what they wrote. After looks of course. WTF is wrong with me?!??!

If you're looking for a serious relationship rather than a **** that's understandable. I'm the same. Maybe over time I'll get more desperate and then I'll have to lower my standards. Or I'll meet someone I just get on with so well, standards won't be an issue.

Don't worry, I can rattle through 10s of profiles and write them all off within 2 seconds.

I have very high standards, and much like you grammatical errors/spelling, style of writing and "tone" of writing put me off instantly.

I live in Jersey so internet dating is just loltastically bad. You'll be lucky to get 30 local profiles even with a BROAD search. Of which you can guarantee you can write off 50% instantly.

As of now I have succumbed to the fact that all woman are insane (at least at some point or over something) and will drive you mental. I am maintaining this standpoint untill proven otherwise... any takers... ladies?

I agree with the insane comment.

I love this browsing online dating sites though.... I'm not perfect - by ANY stretch - yet I so freely condemn others.

EDIT - this has actually ****** me off now. I'm at a loss. These pages are supposed to be adverts for a ****/date/partner/whatever.... yet they come across as a easy retard. Do people not put thought into things?

a) You're a man, and we all do this to varying extents.

My GF found me on ICQ via a random message. That was 9 years ago, we're now living together in the UK (She's an Aussie). Not only online, but long distance. Online > Noisy Clubs for finding someone worthwhile IMO

To be honest though there is no real reason to get it other than for the prestige.

i went onto plenty of fish.. but got no results.. I sent a few messages nothing long or serious, just to get a conversation going.. but i got no replies all my messages were deleted either after being read and others didn't even bother to read the message just deleted. What are you meant to do to get anywhere on dating sites?

There are a lot of attention seekers on dating sites that are just time wasters. For instance some chick came up in some results who's personal statement said "Not interested in anything just wanted to say I have the best boyfriend ever".... /yawn.

Have decent photos, be of at least average attractiveness, and have an interesting profile.

This is by no means a guarantee, but pretty much a bare minimum requirement to get any interest/responses.
