I take it this is experiences from online dating? This sort of goes back to the point a made about attraction. Body language, tone and emotion are some of the major things missing from this. One thing that always puzzles me well especially with some of the women I know, why are they so keen to settle down?

Exactly my thoughts! Its near impossible to find someone true personality over just a few paragraphs of text on a profile, even wording something incorrectly can turn potentail match's running for the hills! As for which photograph's to use, this is key, but as you said you can't tell much from a 2D picture or someone in a "myspace" pose!

Where abouts you based anyways?

Yeah pretty much, ive never had anything seriouse with people ive met offline by that i mean anything thats lasted longer that a day. I recently well couple of months ago just split with someone who i initially met off pof .. he's my exception in that we are still really close friends and are still able to spend time together/hang out, but pretty much anyone else ive dated offline has ended terribly and I hate them now with a passion. I can't speak for all women but for me i think settleing down means security and knowing im not just going to be used or end up hurt. It does take me a long time before I can feel like I want that with someone though as I don't trust people easily or let them in and even now there's only person out of all the people I know that I truely trust and allow to get close to me.
 
I'm about to get back onto the internet dating thing in a week or so :) I bump my PoF profile every now and then, not had much luck with anyone under 20stone, not weird and/or bearable to look at. Ah well.

Had a tough time with other things so had to give it a break for a bit. Really can't understand SS's trouble though!

I’ve have got a friend that sounds very similar to yourself in terms of that she finds it very hard to open up to someone and I have had many conversations with her about this as she seem to get upset about it every now and then. I don’t know if you are the same but she has problems letting go of the past, as she constantly keeps going back and getting hurt but I think the penny has dropped with her now. Then again I can see where your coming from here about being messed about and I guess I think deep down most people would feel the same. However, there are also a fair amount of pickup artists about. I personally think the best way of meeting new people is through friends or out and about with friends, as it’s always worked well for me in the past. :)
