Internet Dating.....Who Has Done it?!

I have recently taken the venture to online dating.

Got chatting to one girl, who seems ok so far. Dunno what else to say that isnt on my profile to be honest. Starting talking about dogs :p (yes the animal !)

I think I need to try veer the convo to meeting up for a date. Not quite sure how to move it though... First time doing this online so its a bit different. I don't want to come of as being quite abrupt.

pfft I am proberbly thinking this through way to much.

Also a quick question how would you greet your date ? I know I am most likely going to get slaughtered for asking but I mean I am not sure. Do you embrace and maybe a quick peck on the cheek ? or just like smile and introduce yourself and see how she reacts ?

Just ask her out mate. I've found it better to ask directly as you get an answer which a) may stop you wasting anymore time and b) moves things along either way.

As for greeting. I usually put something cheeky like "when we meet I'm only going to say hi and shake your hand. I don't want you taking advantage of me" or something like that. Then they usually make a point of doing what I mentioned. This breaks the ice and keeps things lighthearted.

Alternatively, if you're getting on really well and there's chemistry between you and you can joke etc. I'd say something like "You don't have to feel nervous about giving me a kiss when we meet, I mean if you don't kiss me I'll just dive in anyway"

Both ways have worked for me although I only use them when I know I have a good connection with the other person. I've been on a few dates where when I've met the other person the chemistry has been non-existant so I've just said hi then asked them if they'd like a drink.

Any of you guys know someone for years, they are great and all, talk about anything and everything but thought nothing and then all of the sudden, BAM! and you realise how pretty they are.

I have this kinda online pen pal, and have met her in person 10 months ago (it's not a 400Ibs fat guy in a sofa playing WOW). Her sister is getting married soon so she thought it'll be fun and try on the dress, she showed me a pic...my jaw dropped...

I am still looking for it.

Found this thread a month ago, took me a week to read it all, lmao at some of the stories. Joined plenty of fish & just off out on a first date. She loves Die Hard, sunday dinners & designer stubble, I dont care if she is crazy she's perfect for me :)

A casual "Holy moooly! I didn't realise you are that fit! Now how am I smean't to have a convo with you without being gob smacked all the time!" <puke> Should do the job.

Joined up to POF a few weeks ago, created my profile, iv been sending out messages to girls, had a couple of replies, but after a few messages most seem to stop messaging back, must be something I said :\ (Do you spit or swallow?) ;)

There is one girl who im talking to quite a bit though, shes not bad. Dont know if anything will happen, iv never used internet dating sites to dont know how quickly things spawn

Don't worry about being "abrupt", one thing I know from long experience is that 99% of women do not like shy guys who don't go for what they want... so second-guessing yourself is a sure way to turn someone off, don't over-analyze everythng you do and say. Just ask at the end of the next message you write:

"So, would you like to meet up and go on a date?" :D

It's as simple as that, and if she likes you, she'll say yes. Take her to something fun to start with, a meal is not always the best idea because it isn't the most relaxed environment. Bowling is good fun, and so is a drink and pool (plus you get to see her bending over every time she takes a shot :D)... anything chilled out that allows you to chat and laugh without forcing a heavy atmosphere.

When you end up meeting her just be yourself, don't try and "act" anything. Greet her how you feel comfortable, but normally that's a BIG smile, a "Hi hows things?", and a peck on the cheek.

Have fun. :)

can someone give me a crash course to a first message? seems messages i send never get answered!

Find something specific in her profile and try and say something funny about it or just ask a question about it. I think quite short emails are best as long as you are starting up conversation. Not just 'how are you' or anything like that. You have to try and be a bit different from the majority of other emails she gets. Same applies to the headline. Try and make it funny or intriguing. No 'hi' or empty subject lines.

The main thing is not to get too offended if they don't reply or read/delete. Just move on and find someone else. You should start to get some replies.
