Internet Dating.....Who Has Done it?!

Internet dating is just the modern version of penpals, it worked fine for our parents and grand parents so why not for us.

Me and Claire (the girl ive been seeing from pof) are off out on our 5th date friday everything is looking good so far, might be time to change my status on pof :P

Is it normal for them to randomly stop replying? I suppose it's like window shopping where they'll just move on the next one if you're not perfect. It seems harder than real life!

Yes, sadly that is common practice with online dating. When I was actively online dating, I had loads of girls you’d start a rapport with via email, only for them to vanish into the ether without any warning…..

Its nothing personal, its just the way it is. Something you said or didn’t say, or something she did in real life maybe prompted the abrupt end to communication….. Just don’t do as I did, and try to overthink it.

As I didn’t like it, I was polite enough to send a final message saying “thanks” but “no thanks” to anyone I felt wasn’t going anywhere, and I always replied to everyone that messaged me, even to just say thank you, but not interested, type of message…. Just to offer closure.

Its common courtesy to send a polite message back to anyone who takes the time to message someone, but you know what….. Internet dating made me, at times, inconsiderate, sceptical and rude….. Yep, I made a few blunders…. But throughout all of this I did still reply to everyone…..

I couldn’t put my finger on it, but something was really wrong with the whole internet dating thing……. I finally realised one problem with it, if you go on a dating site, it means you are looking to find someone…. You don’t find someone, you both find each other when you least expect it.

Just started chatting to this girl, another Slovakian. Amazing body... i'm just hoping she's one of those who doesn't take good pictures and looks better in real-life (bit like me really).

Well looks like everything is going well for me, got a call today from her, said she wanted to meet up after work cos she missed me, having not seen each other since saturday. Think i may of hit the jackpot here, thanks to pof.

I take all the credit.I will accept nothing less than your first-born named after me.

You sure she isn't the one on the right ?

Sorry.. in my experiance if they don't look right in the picture then they *really* don't look right when you meet them, girls spend a lot of time choosing a photo that has them at there best.

I've done internet dating off and on since I split from my wife, it made sense to me as i don't have a large network of friends and needed to just meet some new people.

Been hit and miss, have met some really nice people, have some new friends, a couple of girl friends, have met some bunny boilers.

Things I've found. Free sites are just as good but you have to be very prepaired to search to find the good ones and not phased by apparent rejection. Match is rubbish !, only join the pay ones for a month max, change your profile and pictures regularly. Try and meet as soon as it seems safe, don't build up and "internet relationship". Don't flurt till you meet them ! You have to put effort into it, message lots of people and read there profiles to make your messages personal, even if its just there name or one little comment about there profile. Oh and we are just coming into a quiet time, summer holidays, September is a great time to join and look ;)

For me, i've just met a fantastic girl and although its early days it feels very good, so yea, it worked for me and if it doesn't work out I will do it again
