Internet Dating.....Who Has Done it?!

I've got a date in April, after never really being in a relationship I'm quite looking forward, though to be fair I have no clue what I'm going to be like once I go, I'm usually either no nerves or a complete wreck.

After my friends trying to hook me up with past girlfriends and take me on double dates (of which I end up uncontrollable laughing and just making a general t** out of myself) I've found that I really needed to step up my game.

edit - This was through okcupid, though the name really did put me off. it looked like a pretty well developed site that was free.

You can get a girlfriend on Habbo Hotel in under 5 minutes. Me and my friend used to see who could get the most under an hour. I must have gotten 8 girlfriends all fighting over me!

Seriously though that's how I met my GF of 5 years (we was friends for a year first on MSN).

I would never do online dating websites though. It takes out the experience of falling for someone. It makes it a commodity like "hey i want a date you want a date let's get to buisness". Soooo romantic. I mean when they say you'll find someone it doesn't mean literally go to a big dating farm and look.

Eek. Best advice I can give if that's how you react under pressure around women is to:

a) Have a 5-knuckle-shuffle before you go out, it will calm you and take away the excess omgwantsexnow chemicals that make people edgy when they meet a sexy woman for the first time.

b) Be slightly reserved in how you act. By that I don't mean withdrawn and quiet, I just mean try and talk in controlled and even tones, laugh without cackling, and smile without grinning like a loon. That may seem like i'm asking you to not act natural, but if your natural instinct around women is to act like a loon, then this isn't always going to be a winning combo when you meet a woman for the first time. Behaviour can be corrected and calmed, so don't fret and just go easy until the nerves ease, even if that takes a date or two.

It'll take a while but you'll start to act more normal after enough dates.

Was emailing a bird from POF over the past few days. 20, owned her own business, quite pretty, massive boobs (and not fat!). Seemed really nice, then she got stroppy and said I wasn't texting her enough information.

Yeah no problem, good luck.

Gah, my eyes, my eyes!
What has been seen, can not be unseen. :<

Just seen some nasties, daft preview bar along the top.

Looked at OkCupid, there is a lot of bisexuals in the central belt just from a random search, although the quality of the website seems to attract the better looking girls that can (sort of) type. :D

I don't think anyone wants a 13 year old girlfriend.

I'm beginning to get annoyed now, using POF, sent a few emails out, every time i do they check out my profile so my mail / attached pictures are at least getting their interest. Then i never get a response, either my profile is ridiculously bad or no one wants to date someone with 3 kids :(.

This has probably been covered, but what do you say in your opening message/email to someone? "I like what you look like?" "we have similar interests?" :D

I always make a point of asking questions about their profile and write correctly etc. Usually try to add something amusing in there which knowing my sense of humour may not always come across great haha. Point is they check my profile after getting the mails so i'm getting halfway there.

I had my first internet date tonight, she was really nice and I hope we meet up again. Just turned 28, works as a probation officer, got her head screwed on and on top of that she is very attractive.

Really down to earth and lovely, I hope it develops.

Hope I haven't annoyed anyone by resurrecting an old topic
