Ok, so I have been single for just over 4 weeks, and I went on POF because I was bored one night and I just needed something to take my mind off things. I'm not looking for anything more than someone to chat with and maybe meet up with and do some fun stuff (as in going on days out).
1. I've messaged a fair few girls, not just people I think are hot, but people I genuinely think I have something in common with. I've tried loads of different approaches, and none of them respond. I've had one response, from a girl I am now friends with on Facebook, she's good to chat to but has a boyfriend, which is odd.
2. Only fat girls message me. I know that's a bit shallow, but I'm not really attracted to tubby girls. I find this in real life as well, tubby girls like me. I don't think I'm fat, so I don't get it.

Sounds too close for comfort chap. Same with me and my ex, the more effort you put in the less they seem to and it's a slippery slope which leaves you emotionally drained.
4 Weeks isn't that long at all to be mentally over it. Probably best to focus on yourself for the next few weeks or so, and take time to sit down and figure out what was wrong in your last relationship. Without making too many assumptions both parties are usually to blame for breakups, she may have acted distant or whatever, but it may have been because you were overwhelming her and making her the center of your universe, for example.
Chin up, there's PlentyOfFish out there, sadly most are fatties, but come the oil crisis we'll be burning them for fuel anyway, so all is good.

No, her personality is amazing. She just said "something is missing", she dealt with it well to be fair to her. It's obviously just horrible for me!
You are right, I'm definitely not in the right place to be seeing other people right now. But it's Saturday night, I'm sat at home, so I just needed something to keep my mind off my ex. Hey ho!

You might want to cool it a bit matey, a month since a breakup isn't really a long time and even if you do manage to score one of the rare non-crazy ladies on PoF, your head won't be in the right place.
Don't mean to lecture, but I've been single almost a year now and I think the breakup has still left me a bit unhinged.

That seems a bit of a cop out, did she not explain what she thought was missing, or even attempt to work things through with you?
It's one of the hardest things to do, someone who played such an integral part of your life for a period of time, is then completely removed, it can't not leave a hole. It shrinks with time but I don't think it ever completely goes away, they'll always be that part of you thinking 'what if i'd have done x different..?'
If you do want her back then the only way to go about it is to get on with your life, which is a win win really. You'll move on and not care as much, and maybe she'll want you back, then you can decide what's best for you.
I cut off all contact with my x for about 4 months but my mate at work mentioned she had recently split with her new b/f and for some reason I got back in contact with her and to be honest I don't know why. We've agreed to meet up but whether we will we'll see, and I'm still not sure if it's a good idea anyway.
But hey ho, hearts are muscles, they don't break, being muscles damage only makes them stronger.

Yeah don't worry we've been there, what I said above is about 5% of the whole story, but sums it up pretty well.
Just signed back up to PoF. Met a chick when I was on a volunteer holiday, got along awesome. When back home she moved from being an hour away to about 7 hours away, I figured it couldn't get much worse than that! Now she's moving to Poland in a week or so for some volunteer work...
Now checking out PoF, either I'm getting more picky or the intarwebs is getting uglier. 'Looking for prince charming!' Right, and why is it that blokes aren't looking for their 'Princess'? Because they know life ain't a fairytale and actually have realistic expectations. 'Not looking to be messed around' means that they always fall for the guy who treats them like crap and messes them around, thus will do again. 'Looking for someone to make me happy' How about you're happy before we meet and in turn you won't be an emotion leech.

Can't say I've had that problem however I don't go into too much detail about what I do.
Women will prefer it if you're a plumber/builder etc I reckon - you'll be expected to fix random stuff for them and be on call 24hrs

Okay guys, quick question. So the girl I went on a date with on Friday (which went really well) said that she'd like to see me today and that she'd contact me, however I've not heard from her today. I'm thinking that's fair enough, it's only been two dates, so I was just going to leave it until she contacts me again (if she does).
