Internet Dating.....Who Has Done it?!

er... I might've done something silly lol.

I've re-registered on pof but...for now I've said I'm looking for friends.

I don't like POF personally, I'm preferring OKCupid :)

Plus Chin up, plenty more out there and everyone has their fair share of problems :)

Just remember you are not alone! :)

Started talking to a lass from POF just a week ago. Not meet up yet, mostly as its an hour and a half drive. But she's cracking, good looking, funny, nice.

Still to find out what's wrong with her.

I know people will probably read this and think "wow she is ****** up" :(

To be honest, the family member cancer thing is a bit of an emotional roller-coaster and will really stress you out. I've had the same thing with my uncle recently.

I'm sure the idea of having someone supportive with a shoulder to possibly cry on might seem appealing, but I'd probably put the dating on hold if I were you because your head will be all over the place for a while. If you end up finding someone who seems nice but then runs a mile when you get emotional then it's not going to help. Especially if it turns out that they were the type that were after one thing.

Sorry to hear about your bad news by the way, like I say, I've been through the same situation a few times now myself. :(

Supportive friends would probably be more helpful at this time IMO.

(BTW my advice may be crap as I've been single for a few years now, the closest thing to me is my piano and I'm probably socially dysfunctional by now! :p)

I'd sort of agree with pianobasher. Although Secretspy, if you just take everything really slowly and go on some nice dates with some nice guys. I imagine it will cheer you up.

When I see girls on there with the friend thing I don't take it as they literally want friends. It just makes them seem cautious. Plus it makes it easier to turn away unwanted advances.

Whoops... May have messed up a potential date.

A guy asked me if I'm free on Sunday, I said might be going out for dinner but might be free in the day. He then asked 'On a date? ;)'... What an awkward question to ask...

Sooo... I'm not one to lie, so I said 'Possibly.. but it's not confirmed yet'. He replied with 'oh ok.' and he now seems to have gone all quiet.

Should I have lied???

He's one of those guys that thinks it's cool or "cheeky" to wink, and therefore you should never, ever meet him.

Ever.

Haha you really do have something against winks don't you!! ;)

:p

Doesn't it make your skin crawl? Honestly, the amount of guys I see thinking it's some magic key to a woman's undies is incredible. I can honestly say I cringe every time I see it used, it's just so sleazy and creepy!

Hmm I use the word honestly too much.

White lie;) Would you like it if your next date said he'd been on a date the night before he took you out? It might, you know, make you go all quiet:p

Haha well I just got a reply. He goes 'So is this guy better looking than me? :p what kind of guy do you go for?'

Hmm... Imagine if it was the other way round and the girl asked the guy if his other date was better looking than her... you would think she's a bunny boiler or something!

So are winks and the word lol a complete put off now then? :p

I sent a message to a girl that i felt would've been perfect she doesn't drink very much and nor did i, loves the outdoors and so do i... It was the quickest READ DELETED i think i've ever had, never had that before I think it was my looks , Very rarely do i get READ DELETED :D.

And you can just as quickly get over her by realising that what she put on her profile was a pile of toss. ^^

Didn't think of that, well said :)

Like the time i mentioned someones horse riding as it was on their profile and they say " I don't really do it anymore and haven't done for years ", yet clearly they put doing horse riding.
