"Seeing as you said you're down to earth, if I could pick you up and put you anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?"

Could try something like that, I've had success with similar lines before when there hasn't been much to go on.

Love to go out and love to stay in. Love to read, watch TV and socialise with friends. Love to shop and listen to music all the time. I try to keep up to date with music but always go back to those 90's tunes. Im a down to earth girl who says exactly whats she means and takes every day as it comes. I am shy at first but my confidence comes around the right person. I love TLC and will always give it back.

Just highlighted stuff in there that you can talk about.
e.g.

"What other things do you love?"
"Tell me what your perfect night out looks like."
"Isn't it great to just stay in and relax sometimes?"
"What do you read/watch/listen to?"
"You seem to be a very social person, what's your best memory of being with your friends?"

The rest you should be able to figure out. Look into conversation threading.

ever get that moment when you're unread-deleting some total crocopig's message, that maybe the hot girl you just messaged is thinking exactly the same way about your carefully penned missive?

i know i do.

Yes but I always read the message before I delete it. It still makes me feel dead guilty because I don't want to reply saying "not interested" but I also don't want to just ignore the message either :(

I've taken a break for a little while. I've realised that I'm really picky when I can't afford to be!

Closed my POF account yesterday, met an awesome girl :D

She's 5'7, size 8, blonde, really pretty, and she's a biomedical scientist so obviously got some brains too.

Been chatting for a while, met her last week for dinner & drinks, then she came to see me this weekend and eneded up staying over. She's definitely a keeper, I'm well chuffed :)

Well done mate, glad it worked out for you :)

I usually pick something out of the profile, and comment on it or whatever, then add at the end hope i hear from you..no idea if thats any good as ive got very little in replys using that method, but its the most honest.

This, or comment on one of their photos if they're doing something that might start a conversation (horse riding, a particular place they've been to etc). I wouldn't bother with the "hope to hear from you" bit though, never used it myself and got plenty of replies.

You have to remember though that no matter how good your opening message, if they don't like the look of you you're not gonna get anywhere, so make sure your own pics are up to scratch!

Hi all, weepy stuff alert, but I've just come out of a 16 year relationship and need a bit of a kick start in getting back into the dating thing.

Where's the best place to start? Are there any websites to avoid and any that stand out as being "better", particularly in the 30 to 35 age group?

Thanks.

Did anyone watch the undateables programme tonight? Quite intriguing... although it did make me think that if people who admit they have limited options are still really fussy, there's not much hope for the majority!

The girl dating the tourette's guy seemed lovely and really genuine btw so good luck to them. :-)
