Internet Dating.....Who Has Done it?!

Well, just taken the plunge. Signed up, carppy profile done and terrible photo uploaded.

Not asked a girl out in anger in 16 years so this could be interesting. Message sent, rejection awaited lol
 
You'll be lucky to even get a rejection.
90% don't bother replying. Just don't take it to heart and keep sending out those mails.
Not all at once though.. Takes months. :D
 
My younger brother today went to meet a girl at a train station he has seen her before, they were going to go out this wasn't even internet dating!

She didn't turn up and she didn't email him why!

And they blame blokes for their woes

You know, these handheld texting internet surfing, email checking devices we all have.... You can make telephone calls on them... How amazing is that!
 
Lmao i tried something earlier, left everything exactly the same but reversed the options, in other words girls looking for boys within the same radius and the same ages.. there was 20+ times more results lol

Well I'm not getting as many replies as last time I was on POF a few months back :(
Don't know if its the way my profile is written or something, but it just seems to fizzle out to the girls who do get back to me.....maybe internet dating is not the way for me to go, even if I'm looking for something casual!

On the more passive side to me, I enjoy photography, watching musicals/comedy in theatre, watching movies/going to the cinema, spending time cooking, or playing the piano/guitar.

When I'm not building up a sweat I am taking pictures of [something interesting] with over [years] in photography. I also enjoy watching musical and comedy performances at the theatre and cinema. I also like to cook a variaty of foods from italian to chinese to an amazing plate of chips! I love to end the day relaxing by playing my gutiar or piano to the sunset.

Overall you seem fine with a lot of interests/talents so should be ok on PoF.

Well, turn up for the books! Thought I'd aim high with my first and only message. Got a lovely response and got a bit of chat going. Will hopefully progress to a meet later on, will see.

Amazing how a small thing like that can lift the spirits!

I don't think I'm doing anything wrong, I tend to start it off with just saying that they sound like a really nice/cool person, then I try and relate to something that they've said in their description....

Also, is it only my area, or is every 1 in 2 girls on POF either a midwife, hairdresser or horse rider?! :p
 
Hehe, if you don't have a thick skin now, you will certainly have thick skin in a few days after pumping out those messages with the all-too-common 'Unread deleted' and 'Read Deleted' rubbish!

Yeah, I have the free account, so don't have the luxury of seeing if a message has been read or deleted, so it creates a nice bit of suspense playing the waiting game :p
But I have been pumping out the messages and lowering my standards a tad, as I think it was Fuzz? who suggested that, in conversation with a couple of girls now, so we'll see what happens.

Also joined up Badoo today, site doesn't look too bad, a lot of nice girls on there, and they seem to want something quite casual which is what I'm looking for really :p
I'm in convo with 4 girls on there at the mo, got into a proper convo with one lass, who gave me her number etc. but I'm a bit skeptical as she only has 1 pic, which is a close up of her face and when I asked if she had FB she said she didn't, which is very strange for a 20 year old girl.....I'm scared that its a secret fatty :(
 
Haha don't worry, this teacher I'm seeing at the moment only had two pics up and also said she doesn't have FB..

On the other hand the last one I dated a couple of times I had to let down gently (second date to tell her I wasn't that interested but we could still be good friends) Nice girl and all but laaaarge. It's no bother, why worry about if she's a fatty or not. If she's really nice you may be converted. ;)
If not you can just say thanks but no thanks...
On the other other hand, she WILL have a hot friend! They always do when they go out. :D You could steam in there instead. :D
 
Hehe, you're certainly doing better than me if you're actually having conversations with the ladies!

I don't think I've had but one conversation.

Perhaps I need to be more proactive in my approach and start chatting live to girls. Tried this with one girl who viewed my profile, but she never did respond though...
