I've signed up to match.com, I will admit I'm desperate at the moment, I really want to settle down and meet someone, but since my last relationship ended i've just had no confidence with woman and just seem to have lost my touch

So thought I'd sign up with this, hopefully meet a few people even if its only for one date, and start to get some confidence back. And if I meet "the one" then well thats a bonus

Dude that site is rubbish... I posted so earlier in the thread. I know 3 people who all tried it with similarly dim views of it, you may as well throw money away, and they charge a bloody fortune. Use Plentyoffish... it's about 10x bigger and free.
 
I'll agree that POF is much better than Match.com, and I've got a paid subscription to Match(Depressing I know :( lol). It's just much simpler, has a much bigger selection of women on it, and main thing, it's free. Plus it's always good to see if someone's actually bothered to read your emails etc lol.

She's taller than Avril, 5'9, 25 yrs old (looks about 20), skinny like a model, but with curves, amazing eyes, lives 5 mins walk from my house (actually i walk past her house twice a day on the way to work and back from work). The only "downside" is that she has a 5 year old daughter, i don't think i can handle a kid lol.
 
Oh one final tip regarding profile photos:

I ALWAYS feel a bit sad for the poor chaps who have a photo of themselves taken at arm's length, OR in a mirror, OR obviously self-timer'd and posed-for.

That reeks of "I don't get out much, don't get photographed, don't even have a friend I can ask to just hold a camera for me". Bless.

I think about 99.9999999999999% of girl's profile i've seen are photos like that.

I don't get out much though :( haha.
Nah I have 1 taken at arms length, but doesn't look like it is, rest have been when I've been out etc.

One thing I hate regarding girls pictures, especially a lot from around here, are ones with their tongues out, looks bloody awful half the time hah.

Maybe some people don't actually get out much? Wether that be due to a hectic schedule or even loneliness? Some people aren't as fortunate as yourself and have such social lives which is probably why their using these sites in the first place. No need to think any less.

Well, suppose so. If they're /so/ busy though, or isolated, I guess they wouldn't have been the person for me anyway.

Sorry but that's one of the most ridiculous things I ever heard. A lot of people just don't like being in photos that much for various reasons (me included)... and for many people, especially blokes, it would be embarassing to ask a mate to take a picture of you posting for a chuffing dating site, or a posey picture of you full-stop. Seriously, use some common sense.

Well, no, I suppose I wouldn't be so comfortable specifically asking for a picture like that either. But there seem to be lots of photos floating around taken by various friends, holiday snaps, general stuff.

I remember in my early days online doing just that, taking the posed timered pictures of myself just to have on the PC should anyone ask for a picture. I was 14, and in those pictures I cut a rather sad figure of a very shy self-conscious girl trying to look cool and really not getting there. If I'd scanned one of the pictures of me on holiday or larking with mates, it'd have been LOADS better. Bygones.

Ah and therein lies the answer... the very shy, self-conscious girl you used to be. Don't judge everyone else by that. ;)
