Internet Dating.....Who Has Done it?!

Is it just me or is their some psychology behind this.

I just got a message of someone who looks nice and seems overall pretty nice, but the message says "Hiya babes xx", now it's either me really not liking being called babes, or it's just an excuse I'm making as I must not like her (even though she is attractive).

Who knows, I'm in a pretty odd situation at the minute and just want some dates, someone to go out with, as most friends are either saving or have girlfriends.

I've been on PoF and another site for, must be 2 years now. and I'm finding that it's just really hit and miss because my "type" is not your average girl (dyed hair, piercings, likes rock).

are there any other sites that cater towards this? as I never seem to be able to meet anyone other than your typical scouse, fake hair, tan; type girl.
 
It's just another way of saying hello / introducing oneself?

I don't see the issue tbh if someone has made some effort to make the initial contact. To single it out as an issue is overly picky IMO

Most of the time these people have spammed several others with the same message.

To me that isn't enough effort and not overly picky.

Agree

In my profile I stated that I liked astronomy. I got a good number of generic sounding replies suggesting they work out my horoscope.

I could only think this meant:

1) They hadn't bothered to read my profile properly and misread astronomy as astrology
2) They had read it properly but thought astronomy was the same as astrology
3) They spammed offers to draw up horoscopes to every woman without selection

None of the above was what I was looking for

It does seem a bit of a half measured way of sending a message, mine always have some content in them, usually if we have something in common I'll mention it etc.
 
Just thought i''d post in here.

I young lady i know had a terrible time with various blokes she had met down the years, one particular was quite bad to her and made her life a complete misery. She is a very attractive, pretty young woman.. Kind, wouldn't hurt anyone but the sort that would do anything for anyone.

Struggling to understand why she couldn't find the right bloke, she joined an internet dating site. Fast forward a few years, and coincidentally the first bloke she happened to met, she found her right partner and have been together just over a few years. Loyal and happy they both got married yesterday :)

I guess the moral of the story here is that there are no guarantees either way and both have their chances and risks.

However. both had lied in some way or another on their profiles.

i have no problem with a the odd white lie on a profile, mine says on mine that i enjoy drawing/graphics design, yet i haven't done any graphic design since i left school :p

online dating seems to be like the lottery, sometimes your lucky and sometimes not, except its a lottery with mind games and people looking for ego boosts :P

ive always treated online dating, as more of an extension on my social life, and not putting too much faith in it and hoping that i become one of lucky ones.. but that doesnt seem to be the case...
 
Ha!

Got a date tomorrow with a lovely young lady I met on POF. She'd clicked the 'meet me' feature but not messaged so I took the initiative and it paid off.

If I get something going with this one I'd be well chuffed.

Next week I've a got date with a lady who's 5 years my senior. Once dated a 33yo when I was 19 and that was awesome so thought I'd give it a crack again.
