Internet Dating.....Who Has Done it?!

True, but looks aren't everything, most of the good looking girls I know are right aloof bitches, so it's nice to talk to someone who is quite attractive and seems nice :)

This is very true!

Besides 90% of the time good looking girls like hard boys and then wonder what happens after . It's because they are brave, innit

Again, true, although most of the "hard lads" would run away crying if you gave them abuse, they just do it to show off to the girls :D

Little secret for you people only!

If you have a windows 7 phone download the Match.com app. For some reason it gives me full access that a subscriber would get ie. emails, views, winks etc.

Please don't spread this about as they will most likely fix it faster.

Came across a profile on POF of someone I used to work with... He's pretty cute :D Sent him a message saying he looks rather familiar and he replied with 'Haha I know you!' and asked if I've left the company. It's a bit awkward so I think I'll let that one slip....

So you know who he is and think he's pretty cute and email him saying he looks rather familiar. Then when he replies confirming that you know each other you think it's awkward and want to let it slip?

You must have known he would know you from working together and therefore already known you wouldn't want to date him.

What reason would you have to email him other than to get a quick ego boost? :P

I wasn't 100% sure if he was who I thought he was, as he only had one photo up. I emailed to see if he recognised me and he replied confirming that. Why would I need a quick ego boost?

I still don't understand why you would email with no intention? Its a dating site?

Your replies always have small but significant changes which cast the situation in a different light. You've gone from "Came across a profile on POF of someone I used to work with" where you're sure it's him to "I wasn't 100% sure....."

From reading your first posts then reading others after you've been questioned there seems to be a common trend. I mean you think the guys cute and you know him so why else send an email? Even if you're not 100% sure you still sent one which by default means you want a reply. What did you want the guy to say?

I still don't understand why you would email with no intention? Its a dating site?

This or if you did email him and had no interest other than to see if he remembers you (as I've done in the past)

"Hey, remember me. We used to work together at xxxxxxxxxxx. How are you finding PoF? There are some crazy people here!!

Hope you're well and good luck! :)

OP"

Job done in a friendly way without leading them on..

You have too much time in your hands. It really isn't necessary to analyse every single word of my post. You've taken something so simple and made it sound like I'm an attention seeking whore with the intention of boosting my ego? ??

Ok in response to your analysis, I will give you a detailed explanation:

1) I stumbled across a profile and saw a pic of someone who looks familiar. Checks location and job title - near where I work and same job title. Not too sure if he's the same guy I'm thinking as there is only one pic of him without his glasses (I've only ever seen him wear glasses)

2) Email him saying 'Hmmm.... you look rather familiar'

3) He replies and says 'Haha I know you! :) How's things? You left <so and so company> didn't you? You're the 3rd work related person I seen on here now!'

4) Curiosity over, he is who I thought he was. If he liked me he probably would've approached me when he still worked at the same place. So now I'm thinking, I don't want to make a fool out of myself and try to get to know him a bit more as he wasn't even interested back when we were in the same company.

Jeez. Happy?

I still don't understand why you would email with no intention? Its a dating site?
If you saw some cute girl on the street who you think you might know and may have possibly liked, wouldn't you be curious to say hi and find out if it is definitely that person? It doesn't make a difference if it's a dating site or not - except that it's probably easier to say Hi via an email than F2F in case you get blanked.

So mail him back then if you think he is cute?!? I asked the original question because I had a girl say I look familiar then a few nice flirty messages then disappeared.

And yes I would be curious because I would be wanting more! If it was someone I didn't fancy or like I would avoid!

Orange peel is kind of right. You said he was cute so you messaged or was it just because you recognised him, I don't know. Either way he probably thinks your interested now!

Which ever way you looking at it, its a dating website.

Men are shy as well, I have worked with plenty of women I found I liked and not made the move unfortunately.

MisChief, he's a man, of course he liked you when he worked at your place and of course he likes you now (well, it's at least highly possible :p) Would he have even replied if he didn't?

Just going by my own experiences here, I don't understand how women think every man that fancies them is going to declare it. Being shot down tends to be a much bigger kick in the balls to a man than it is to a woman, not to mention the increased risk of the fact that you worked together!

It's a dating site, you know, for dating.

I agree with Ahleckz about you guys seeming to care too much... however I do find it strange you wouldn't even reply MisChief, it is slightly rude not to considering you were the one who messaged him initially.

It is entirely possible to reply to his messages and have a quick catch up (2/3 messages or something) as if it wasn't a dating site... you don't have to marry the guy.

Sorry I guess this is where I didn't make it clear - I did reply to him and even asked him how he's finding POF and wished him luck. I'm not expecting a reply and it feels a bit weird talking to someone I know on POF which is why I said I think I'll let that one slip.
