iOS 9

Pre IOS9 I could go into camera roll, press on a photo and have the option to copy it, now I have to open the photo, then select it again to reveal the copy option, then paste it. Am I missing something or have Apple added a tap or 2 to my photo copy/paste procedure? :)

If you have the new phone, you can now peek/force touch (to maximise in a window) a thumbnail from the camera roll and swipe up, this gives you the option to copy pretty quickly :)

Is anyone else suffering from numbers not being identified as contacts? I've found it seems to happen when I have the number saved as "07..." rather than "+44 7...". The lockscreen shows the number as the "+44 7...." version when I get a message, for example.

Urghhh...I'm getting this on my new 6S now.

Existing contacts coming up as their telephone number :(

How do you jump into a day on calendar month view on ios 9? I have been trying on my friends and it wont, even with double tap. I restored to ios8 and when i tap on a day it open the day view to see what i have in the calendar.
They changed something from ios 7 > 8 too (the day preview at the bottom of the scennn) which really annoyed me, now another change to remove day view?!

I might buy a 4S with ios6. Or is it possible to load a jailbroken version of ios6 somehow? Would love to go back to ios6. Why dont apple sign all versions and let people choose the os they want instead of forcing new software which makes older devices slower and removes good stable features down peoples throats?

Security, if it's jail broken it's dodgy as ****

Is this uniform on ALL IOS 9 devices ? Or is it just iphone with ios 9, and do other people (all?) Get this problem with the new version whether iphone 6 or 6s? Still on 8.41 here (iphone 6)

Yep, I had it. It was only for text messages, only on my iPhone and happened irrespective of if I had the contact saved with the number as 07... or +447...

iMessages were fine and text messages when forwarded to my iPad were also fine.

From googling it seems to be a problem that's been around for some time but I couldn't find a way of solving it. I tried all sorts of things but in the end I turned my iPhone off, sent a text from my work mobile then powered on my iPhone again. Since then it has been OK. Quite why that seems to have sorted it though I have no idea.

I may have been a bit premature in saying it was fixed as I just got a text and it showed up in the lock screen as coming from a number, not a name. Bah.

What's odd though is that if I text myself from my work phone it displays 'Work mobile' on the lock screen so it is working ok there.

On a different note, is anyone else having problems with intermittent What's App notifications? Quite often my iPhone doesn't vibrate or make a sound when a message comes in. The screen lights up and it shows a notification on the lock screen but there's often no sound.

I also had the issue when receiving SMS from certain contacts.

Using iBackupBot I viewed the messages from my most recent backup and it showed that old (started in 2010) message threads were labelled with just a phone number but threads started more recently are labelled with both the name and number. The threads which didn't show a name in iBackupBot matched the contacts which wouldn't show a name on the lock screen.

If you delete the message history of an affected contact it will display their name again. Not really an acceptable solution but it doesn't seem to be something that Apple have been too bothered about fixing in the past.

Interesting you say about whatsapp notifications. I went to ios 9.0 then back to 8.4.1 and sometimes get the same. Also, when i try and updat email (as have it on manual fetch instead of push) it doesnt update my hotmail account. It used to start a spinning wheel next to wifi / 4g when i opened mail and load messages but not anymore. I sometimes have to drag down for 5 seconds or so, turn on/off the mail account or reset network settings

iPad 2 & iPhone 4S should have been left on iOS 7. The performance on iOS 8 & 9 is so poor on the older devices.

I got this pre IOS9 and so did a few friends of mine - I believe I'm still having the issue on IOS9 too.

If I buy a 4S thats on ios 6.0.3, am I still able to restore my settings from icloud backup like contacts and calendar items? I seem to remember icloud backup/restore only came in around ios 7

Since upgrading both my iPad and iPhone to iOS 9 the podcast app just crashes, I've tried deleting all the podcasts but even after a power cycle the podcast app icon still shows 25 unlistened to podcasts. Anyone got any suggestions? Don't fancy a restore as the only iPhone one offered is 2013!

I'm finding a few more bugs. I'm having a few apps crashing which I've never experienced before and the most annoying one is notifications on screen showing "2m ago" and the timer not refreshing. It makes triaging texts/emails difficult as I don't know how long ago I received them until I open them. And I've accidentally ignored the girlfriend for longer than intended on several occasions :p

Slightly disappointed as I have had iPhones for years and always updated on day 1 but never noticed any obvious glitches before.
