iOS6 Changing how you see the world

This is pretty bad. At first I thought it was just a few gaffs, like London, ON etc coming up instead, but that link above seems like it'd be a LOT of work to correct.

Friend on Facebook has been complaining since he's updated to iOS6. He posted this earlier. Fully loaded, as close as the maps will zoom in and he used to be able to see his front door using street view on Google Maps.

:D :D

Why did they get rid of Google Maps again?

Just what I was thinking.

It worked pretty well after all. I wonder how long it will be before apple make a profit on this mapping service, they're still paying TomTom for data as well.

Ah this wont matter in the long run, they are out their nut with new emojis and tweeting from the notification bar......ya know the thing they stole from android

Please folks keeps the pics coming :D

Also if I were google my official iOS6 app would just have hit a few snags

How to use Apple Maps Pull up the page fold on the bottom right of the map Select 'Report a Problem'

Apple think they can do everything that's the issue here. Make your iOS, it seems a decent OS but don't get too big for your boots and try and do things that have taken companies years to polish and then pass them off as being as good as, if not better than, the other products.

Google Maps will only get better!

The war has started and Google has been preparing for it for a long time! They are miles ahead of the competition!

Having a search engine which is integrated to their mapping software = Perfect combo!

Google should hold out for an iOS Maps app :)
Would have been great if they stopped doing apps for Apple. Wonder how long Apples reign would last....

..

That's the problem it wasn't. Apple didn't have a whole lot of choice. The google maps app hadn't been updated in years (ever?) on ios and I believe apple where paying google for the app as well.

I'm sure it'll get vastly better over the coming months.

I hope they don't do this. Part of the reason I use Google for most of my services (Email, contacts, calendars, cloud) is I know no matter what platform I decide to use I'll be able to access to my data. It's the beauty of Google.

Remember that google doesn't make any money directly from Android. Almost all their money comes from advertising revenue and so their goal is exposing as many people as possible to those adverts, whether on PC, Android, iOS or anything else. Pulling google products from iOS would be crazy in that respect.

Is that really the case?

iOS also had a fairly rubbish YouTube app, they got rid of it.
What happened next? Google came out with a version that was 100x better.

Instead of trying to compete with Google who are by far the best source for maps on any device, they should have told Google to port a maps app similar to the one on Android over to iOS.

It may not have been updated but still seems to be years ahead of what Apple have decided to ram down their customers throats if today's outcry is anything to go by.
Just another case of apple knowing best..

Apparently if you're searching for businesses, it will only find those that are in the Yelp! directory. All others don't exist in the world of Apple...

And why would they care, Google have said they will probably (unconfirmed) do an app for iOS, but it will be on their own terms and they will include/exclude whatever they want

Obviously it will not be as good as the android version no matter what they release

If true about yelp buisnesses are going to be raging, already lots of reports of it not finding places 100m away, but siri is all but useless in the uk for business/loacations so why should you be surprised

Google have it licked as said above, maps linked to search usually form the business official page so the address cant be wrong, apple seem to be using 3rd parties, tomtom, yelp etc to populate their app

I don't think it would be that bad to be honest, Google makes more money from iOS users than it does from Android.

It's in their best interest to bring out a good service for customers on every platform, not just Android.

Looking at it from the outside, just seems like Apple have had enough of Google and are trying to do everything on their terms. Which is nice if you can bring out services which better or even compete with the competition.
