iOS7

It shows what a marvellous job they've done if even you like it (a bit :p)! Things like the design and colour scheme will always tend to divide opinion though, if it stayed the same people would have slated it, if you change it, there are people who won't like the change, etc.

I've been fiddling with it all morning and I do really like it, it's fluid and seems to work nicely. For a Beta 1 it's surprisingly bug free though there's the odd glitch here and there.

Few pics of it on the black phone if you're interested:

Great shots! Just makes me want to try it even more but, still waiting for the final release :)

Cheers Robbo, reminds me so much of MIUI on Android.

I thought this last night while looking at the screenshots, I loved the look of MIUI on my old Huawei U800 Android phone.

@matt100

Indeed!

It really is silly when you think about it like that :o Same applies to everything else too i.e GPUs, CPUs etc.

From what I have seen/read so far, iOS 7 does seem to have received a very warm welcome overall and as robbo has pointed out, if even I am somewhat praising iOS 7 then apple must have done something right! :p :D And yup, with the internet/forums etc., you have to take everything with a pinch of salt these days :p

What do you guys think will happen to the system resources on ios 7? Much like going from gingerbread to ice cream sandwich on android, I suspect the extra eye candy and the multitasking additions will be more resource heavy compared to previous software updates.

I do hope Apple don't mess the Hardware side of things up, because I'd really like to have a play with this come release of the next iPhone.

End of the day its gunna be more stable and better app support than android.

You do realise that according to the actual statistics ios is actually more unstable compare to Android right? You also realise that the Play Store is the faster growing app store as well right?

We already know it uses quite a bit more because the supported phone list isn't all the way back to the start but this is fairly natural progression in tech - IP4's might struggle quite a bit though.

For the record Analysys Masons latest report on apps (last week) basically said that iOS users were a lot more likely to buy apps than android still but this goes with the territory - sell cheap stuff, cheap people won't then also spend on apps. The more interesting part of that report was how the longer you have a phone the more likely you are to buy from the stores.

He's right but there is a hell of a lot of complexity to this..

You could suggest a dozen reasons why the stats are what they are but it'll just sound like defending one side or the other.

For the most part both are fine, I personally find android a bit less stable but that's generally due to stuff I've done to it myself just like the last crash I had on iOS which was pretty much every weather app after I jailbroke my 5. Again self inflicted which isn't reflected in the black and white figures above.

As for the app store.. here I am going to take sides.. the google app store may well be growing faster and will likely end up with more apps if it hasn't already and in my experience a good 80-90% of them are utter utter ****, no tablet optimisation, free ad supported versions all over the place, straight up copies (check out how many minecraft rip offs their are for example) almost certainly more jammed with malware etc, it's like the wild west just like the comparison between android and iOS more broadly.

I wonder if Samsung will now sue Apple for copying a load of Android features. :p

This made me laugh :D - But they'll go one better and have S Toggles that can make your S Life complete!

But I hope they get the hardware right on the next iPhone, as I rather like the look of iOS 7 (and probably won't last 24 month's without an iPhone :p). And as said above, the Android App Store is certainly not as good as Apples. The amount of utter **** on it is unbelievable.

App crashes happen about the same between the iPhone 4 and HTC One, but very rarely on the iPad Mini. But the iOS devices recover faster than the HTC One does, as I often have to shut it myself and restart it with a small delay on the HTC. Compared to iOS where I just prod its icon again.

Agreed, though in my experience (and there are many variables here), iOS is more stable than Android in general.

matt100 has it spot on. I must admit that when I was on iOS (with a 4S) I did have several more app crashes than I have had on Android. Not really enough of them to be a huge concern though.

Where the same apps are the available on both platforms, iOS still comes out on top virtually all the time if not equal (you won't find many cases where Android apps are superior to their iOS counterparts). This is gradually changing, but iOS still gets new apps/app features first most of the time.

how do you mean get the hardware right? Put it this way, if you like the 5 you'll like the 5S, we all know what's coming!

with KLP make it so that the base of android can roll out to every android phone regardless of skins etc
That's the point of Google Play Services, although the Android version doesn't change, new API's can be added to older phones.

I think it looks kinda nice apart from the home screen. Don't know if it would be enough to make me want another apple device but it is looking a little bit more fresh.

I wonder how other long time iPhone users will take to the new look & feel once they get it in their hands (Apart from Robbo who already has :p)

I sort of like the 5 (but not enough to buy one), and those I know with a 5 all complain of its battery life, where as my old 4 could easily survive a day of abuse and still be fine for tomorrow too. But it still doesn't drain battery like my One can! :p

I'm hoping that they just make it larger (not by too much) and give it a higher capacity battery.

it won't be a larger phone but I've never had any issue with battery on the 5, I'm at 50% today and I've probably spent about 2 hours on the phone so far with poorly optimised beta software.
