iPad Mini...

This is what I'm wondering about. Mainly I want a tablet to do everything but I think I might be better off getting a Paperwhite as I really want to get into reading again (had enough of console gaming suck up all my time) and then upgrading my seriously ancient phone (Nokia 1600 - look it up!) to an iPhone 5 for casual games/web, etc.

That's how I do things, S3 + Kindle, need e-ink for decent reading and simple devices mean less distraction. If I want to properly browse or be productive I have a laptop or iPad in a bag, 7" tablets don't do it for me.

I have another question - what's the story with gaming on the iPad? If the mini has an A5 processor (now superseded by A5X and A6) will it still run the latest and greatest games? Does Apple mandate that all games have to run on all hardware supported by the current version of iOS?

"Has" sold more, its a different market now. Who with an ipad3 is going to buy a Ipad Mini? I am not saying that it wont sell i am saying that it would sell a lot more if it wasnt double/triple the price that you can buy another 7" tablet.

Apple don't do cheap it will be £250 minimum and people will lap it up.

I have no idea on the rules from Apple re: gaming performance. Its probably gonna end up being an iPad 2 in a smaller shell hardware wise, which doesn't perform too shabby thanks to having such a tiny amount of pixels to push to screen compared to the new iPad

Really looking forward to having a go on the mini. I think I will give this generation a miss but the next couple of years are going to be interesting with this form factor. When Apple put an A6/A7 with retina display in the mini it will be an amazing handheld computer being so thin and light weight.

I'm thinking of buying the 16GB 3G Mini, as much as I wanted the iPad 3(4), I think the mini hits it in size and weight for watching/reading stuff in bed. I'm perfectly fine with it only having the iPad 2 spec, more than enough, I guess the mini will continue to have the previous gen bigger iPads spec for the forceable future.

Does anyone think this will be offered by the carriers for deals like the iPad 2/3? Not read anything so far.

Don't forget NO GPS.... the Nexus 7 does have it built in.

No GPS on any model, or just the wifi-only ones? I've seen people say the same thing about full-fat ipads, but the 3g/4g ones do have a GPS chip activated in them.

The article is current and considers the iPad mini too.

One important factor to bear in mind is that Wi-Fi only iPads do not have a GPS receiver (a fact which has always annoyed us), so can only approximate your location using Wi-Fi hotspots.

Pre-ordered this morning, 16GB white and silver wi-fi.

Will be a nice present for the GF to replace her old iPad 1.

The 32GB nexus 7 looks like tough competition at £199, as much as I like the ipad my wife just bought the mini is just a little too expensive with the older processor and low res screen

We have the Nexus 7 at work. Pretty much everyone who's used it would take an iPad tablet over it, despite the increased price.

Ordered too late this morning and got lumped into the 2 weeks...

Hoping it's going to be like the iPhone 5 orders as some of those delayed orders went out for launch!

100 %

sorry but adding only 130 pound we can get full sized retina display with A6X

This is going to be an interesting few months for tablet sales with the mini now out, Kindle Fire HD, asorted android's, ipad mini or full sized ipad.

Will see how much the staff offers are on them at work, hoping they do the 20% again :D
