iPad Mini...

Not if they just double it - it'd be the same as the regular Retina iPad then. There was a tiiiiny 4k display on Engadget or something last week, like well under 10 inches, isn't impossible.

Maybe but it would trounce the normal iPad for PPI then which I can't see going down well or being cheap but perhaps in a year or two, would certainly encourage me to get a cellular one for some uses.

Just got mine to replace a 1st gen ipad which I still have so its easy to compare.
I'm happy with the display. It seems slightly brighter and more vibrant than the first gen and also of course sharper. I know that it's still only the same res but as it's squeezed into a small display you can't notice the pixels the same as before.

If you own something with a higher ppi like the nexus or something with retina you will obviously see the difference but to me It's perfectly fine for what it will be used for and like I already said it is a lot crisper than the original ipad.

I love how light it feels compared to my original and as it's thinner it just feels nice to hold in your hand. To be fair when you put them side by side the screen is a nice size and doesn't immediately look or feel loads smaller. Compared to the nexus which is a bit narrower for example. It helps that the bezel on the left and right is so thin too.

Picked mine up from Lewis's as tablets come with 2 years warranty :)

Got my iPad 4 - majorly impressed with the screen (never played with a 3) and speed of it. There's no way I could have got a mini without retina, I'd have considered it if it had one.

For my first iPad I am really enjoying this iPad Mini. I was worried whether it would be redundant with my iPhone 5 but it really is an extension of the iOS eco-system which does fit perfectly between my MacBook Pro and iPhone 5.

I am now wondering whether I should return it for it's bigger brother though. I can see with this short use that this is going to change the way I use the internet/read/watch/listen to media. The form factor is PERFECT on the mini.

So for me as this moment in time;

Mini: PERFECT Form Factor and Size which is a big positive and cheaper. £130 extra for a normal iPad is a lot for me for what is a luxury device. New Slate design.

iPad 4: Better Screen, more powerful and more future proofed.

Think I may go and have a long play with a iPad 4 and see. Is there any other positives? The UI is effectively the same size as every iPad so I'm not getting more screen real estate to play with am I?

After the initial announcement, I thought, meh won't ever use one, but now, I'm almost tempted to get one with the next release. Once it has a retina screen, I'll be all over it. As much as I love my iPad, all I do with it is browse t'interweb on it, and I don't need a 10 inch screen for that.

I never watch videos on it as if I do watch a video, I just airplay it to my Apple TV, so again, I don't need the bigger screen for media content either

So, hopefully in April or next October, they'll release a retina display Mini and I'll buy it

Pictures people, where are the pictures?!

In my experience its only a luxury device until you actually buy one and then it becomes so integrated into your daily use that its almost essential!

I use my iPad every single day without fail for a huge variety of tasks - not one task justifies the price in itself but all added together and i wouldn't be without it.

I try to be quite level headed with purchases but despite having an iphone and and iPad 3 (as well as a computer, netbook and laptop) I'm looking at your picture of the mini and thinking "i really want one!" even though i know it makes ABSOLUTELY no sense for me to have one!

So I'm going the other way. I have a 3rd generation and I decided today to buy a Mini to replace it.

I already preordered a 4G version but after playing with it tonight in the apple store I'm going to buy a wifi version and sell my iPad 3 with 3G immediately and then just sell the wifi only mini when my 4G version comes.

Why?

Because I always use the iPad everywhere I go and the 9.7 inches is large and heavy to carry around. If I only used it at home or occasionally in Starbucks I wouldn't mind. But I love my iPad.

And the smaller form factor and how light it is amazed me.

My only concern was losing the retina display but I can safely say that the smaller screen size takes away my concerns. Yes there is some pixelation but its far less than the iPad 2 and not enough to put me off.

The convenience is far more useful than the retina display.

I just hope I can buy a wifi model tomorrow in a store! Do tesco have them?
