iPhone 2.0 firmware available now

I upgraded my jailbroken 1.1.4 with BootNeutered 4.6 using iTunes with my Simplicity SIM in and it worked fine. No need to clean it, not sure what you mean by unlock.

Um Im sorry.. I mean for example I dont have an O2 ipHone contract (I have an O2 business contract (non iPhone based)).

Does this mean I can still upgrade to 2.0 and use the phone normally? (without installer etc though).

Few questions for you if ya dont mind

1. Did the unlock survive the update?
2. Did you restore to a clean 1.1.4 before updating?

Im currently on a jailbroken 1.1.4 with an unlocked 3.9 bootloader, in the event i do have a weak moment id like to feel safe in knowing that all i need to do is just restore and update.

Thanks

1. No, the phone gets locked when you apply the new firmware, as it would if you updated to any new official, locked firmware I guess. The difference now is that you can choose to activate without signing up for a contract. Whether this is a bug or not I don't know - if it's unintentional, it's a big oops. I'm more inclined to think, now that apple/o2 have changed to a more traditional way of selling the phone, they're happy to have old 2G phones on PAYG.

2. No, I did exactly what gumbald did...

I upgraded my jailbroken 1.1.4 with BootNeutered 4.6 using iTunes with my Simplicity SIM in and it worked fine. No need to clean it, not sure what you mean by unlock.

...the only difference between mine and yours is that you have the old bootloader, don't know whether it'd make a difference. I don't see a problem with going back from official 2.0 to broken 1.1.4, but that's not said with any experience of doing so.

My Simplicity SIM worked fine, I would imagine this will be the case for any O2 SIM.

So let me get this straight... if Im on a non iPhone contract, I could plug in my iPhone.. update to 2.0 and select PAYG option? (which means I lose homebrew/installer flexibility)?

Doh, beaten again :/

But presumably installer et all will not work?

Correct, The 2.0 jailbreak hasn't been released yet.

Upgrade to 2.0 you gain quite a few good features but in doing so you lose one VERY good feature, i for one aint letting go of installer yet :P

Give it a week and that will probably change :D

Yeah just a normal £15 a/m o2 simplicity contract

For now anyway, only used it for an awesome tetris game I found via Installer most other things I got bored of or rarely used.

Might be worth a look, I love it for the iTunes remote alone :)

Only things I'm missing are MobileScrobbler and TaskbarNotify. Suppose I'll get them back when Zibri does his thing.

And Summerboard! I need themes!
