iPhone 2.0 firmware available now

Yeh it worked fine for me, i just had to update my itunes to 7.7. I put the original sim card that came with the iphone back in. I then updated it through itunes and took the sim out, put my o2 one back in, then clicked activate, enterred my itunes account details, and clicked ok on terms and conditions and it just activates it for you without going through all of the contract stuff

didnt know you could do this, is it really that simple. I have my original sim that came with my iPhone, never been used. I am using my old pay monthly o2 sim. So will this setup enable me upgrade to the v2 software and activate the phone?

Not really bothered about hacking it straight away, I dont think I use any installer apps anymore, I soon got bored of them, would really like proper exchange funtions though

Yeh it should be fine mate, give it a try, i just updated mine about an hour ago. Its something to do with the itunes servers thinking that the 2g iphones are the 3g models, which means they just activate straight away.

awesome trying it now! :)

edit: it damn well worked, oh yes!

o2 simplicity as above

I've installed Remote and Facebook from the App Store, but they both shut themselves just after appearing... Any ideas?

great stuff :D just done it, activated it and restoring all my music now

After uninstalling them from the PC and syncing? I just tried installing another from the phone and it does the same.

I just did the update from a jailbroken and unlocked 1.1.4 - no problems whatsoever with activation. Guessing O2 have decided to do this on the 2G phones, either that or it's a major flaw!

Anyway, I installed remote and like gumbald it crashed on opening. I changed applications to just sync selected ones, by unticking remote it uninstalled. Then I ticked and re-synced, and now it works! Very strange. Anyone else getting this?

Few questions for you if ya dont mind

1. Did the unlock survive the update?
2. Did you restore to a clean 1.1.4 before updating?

Im currently on a jailbroken 1.1.4 with an unlocked 3.9 bootloader, in the event i do have a weak moment id like to feel safe in knowing that all i need to do is just restore and update.

Thanks

I upgraded my jailbroken 1.1.4 with BootNeutered 4.6 using iTunes with my Simplicity SIM in and it worked fine. No need to clean it, not sure what you mean by unlock.
