iPhone 3GS - Available on Orange soon

So now I pay £30-ish a month for unlimited texts.

If I wanted an iphone I'd have to pay £122 a month, get unlimited calls chucked in (that I wouldn't use) - but at least I wouldn't have to pay for the phone itself. Um.

No ta.

Surely peopel that use the iphone will be of the student origin on the most part, therefore more texts than minutes would have been the logical choice.

Ill stick with my Hero.

I hate to say 'I told you so' to all of those expecting cheaper tariffs. ;)

Orange are limiting data to 750mb as well according to that page above, whereas it's unlimited on O2. Not good for people who use things like that tvcatchup etc.

Personally I wasn't expecting cheaper, just better. More variety, like an option for those who text more than call. Something that O2 aren't offering. Not just the same deals.

Can't believe those tariffs. I'm on Vodafone with 1000 texts and 600 mins with stop the clock @ £20 a month.

Looks like i'm waiting for my contract to expire in January with Vodafone and ask for the same deal but with an iPhone. Or try at least.

I guess I could put my orange sim in with 750mb internet that I just pay £20 for into the payg orange iphone and it will work?

blagged and blagged and blagged and blagged today on the phone to Orange, they wouldn't budge at all regarding the prices :p

to upgrade with an actual decent bundle would have cost me just under £900 (16GB 3GS) over 18 months... for a friggin phone.

but got a brilliant deal on a Hero so went for that in the end. 'tis a shame but i think i'll leave the iPhone for the rich!

What was the deal on the hero?

All iPhone deals will be set in stone exactly the same as O2, they're tied up by the contract with Apple so no chance whatsoever of discounts.

Such a shame. Orange really had an opportunity to take all the iPhone market back from O2 by offering better tarrifs but they blew it.

I've recently bought a 32G 3GS sim free which I use on Orange and I'm glad I didn't bother waiting now, would've been very disappointed.

They didnt blow anything, they had no opportunity, Apple are the ones doing the price fixing here, the new networks dont have a say in it. If anything it's O2 who setup the original deal who screwed the pricing up.
