Am I right in thinking everyone has the same Model number for 16Gb - MC603B! Any difference in the problem between 16 and 32GB versions?

I dunno how youcan be content with no improvement over a year of development and an awful lot of money invested.

Its the Apple model. Drip feed the improvements to keep the latest model worth buying if that means holding tech or features back. Its no secret that is how they operate.

Good news on the horizon, though I am skeptical as they could do any number of things with the software to bodge it and make it display more bars, but hopefully not -

iOS 4.0.1 is coming and will fix the antenna issue

Who knows, time will tell I guess :)

You can't bodge a hardware defect. Even if they show perfect 5 bars, it will still cut out if it is the hardware. Though if the logic behind controlling the call is at fault, then this could be a viable fix.

Either way, if calls don't cut out with your hand in the "wrong" place, it is good enough for me! :p

how is replacing the crappy signal issue with a different crappy signal issue drip feeding improvement?...oh you mean the iPhone 5 will reliably make phone calls no matter how you hold it?! magical ;)

im well aware of how apple operate, anyone looking at the progression of the iphone and iOS can see that lol

My point was the signal issue is the same as the last model. Its just moaned about a lot more this time around because they tried something different and it didnt work. The end result is the same and if it wasn't a problem for me last time around why would it be a problem this time.

Has the signal issue been a problem for you?

so the fact Apple are selling the most expensive smartphone on the market with design that doesnt work and with a fault that was easy to test for before large scale production started doesnt worry you even just a little?

and i have no signal issues because i have a desire ;)

If it worried me I would simply return the phone and I have no desire to do so because as I say its not an issue for me.

Reason I ask is because as far as I can tell those making the most noise are people who do not own an Iphone. Which to me seems to be more about looking for a fault than practical experience of using the handset. Others may be unhappy but I am not, why get upset about something which does not affect me? Thats like getting upset because somewhere they sell Mars Bars for ten pence cheaper than I can buy them, completely irrelevant to myself.

That is absolutely irrelevant.

Not everyone has £600 to waste so wants to examine and discuss the facts and issues before buying one?

People have every right to "make noise" about such a problem.

So you would not rather hear about what the phone is like to use and own rather than people who have no intention of buying one looking to score points or gloat?

Plus it isn't irrelevant. I was having a discussion with Nir and who was asking my opinion. Which I gave. I didn't pretend to speak for everybody.

Keep on kidding your self!

when spending that kind of money, you need to know what your buying isn't a lemon!

edit:

I want to hear the good and the bad. At the moment the bad is more by the looks of it.

oh and this is the iPhone 4 problems thread.

i think the main issue here is that the 3GS has a bad rep for dropping calls, it was expected it'd be fixed with this new antenna design - but it wasn't - hence the press over it.

it's nothing to do with fan boys from either 'camp' (seriously.. grow up?)

I would like to hear every angle of the issue and then try a few for myself (which I intend to do in the local shops).

As it would appear you will definitely have this issue if you are not close to a phone mast. So you may be ok at home, or even at work, but surely you want to know you can use it wherever you are (just about), as it is intended?

or IS actually capable of being a phone ;)

your free to score points about the Desires aversion to direct sunlight, and ill agree with you.

Why would I want to score points? Somebody elses phone has nothing to do with me and unless looking to buy its not something that would interest me.

I am perfectly happy with my phone and simply stating this seems to cause a bit of a ruckus. Not sure why to be honest.
