The proximity sensor being too sensitive and turning on when you have the phone to your ear, which can do things like hang up the call, turn on loudspeaker, etc.

I read about this problem on these forums I think, someone also posted a link to another forum where this issue was bought up but there was a relatively simple fix for it. Can't remember for the life of me where I read it though.

Anyone's iPhone crashing? Mine has crashed 4 times on different occasions - opening facebook, receiving a whatsapp message, opening safari and closing twitter.

Any advice?

i work for a mobile company quite a large brand,
and we have been told to send all our iphone4 supplys back
people say its software but we had all ours recalled,
so no iphones for a while
and if you have one and its been faulty it might be wise to get it replaced

Which mobile phone company is that?

I'd say poor battery, and I also have a clicking on the back glass that has just happen. Going to give it a week or so and then will be making a trip to the Apple Store

i dont see the point in sending the stock back.

Apple wont back down and recall the phones to issue a hardware fix.

The software fix will be available as a firmware update via itunes so wont require recalling to fix.

I fail to see what recalling them achieves.

Mines been perfect, battery is getting better, went 3 days no charging, and still was at 20% - Full 3g, wifi and push on. And i'd only ever get 1 day from my old 3g!

Wish mine was doing this, lasted about 10 hours without needing to be charged.

mine does this with every other call, its really starting to **** me off!

Thats the only problem i've had though!

If apples attitude to this issue wasn't so appalling it would be funny, I still can't believe they are pushing the hold it differently line when all there promotional material including Steve's demo shows it being held by that corner as it is the natural way of doing it!

Haha, I was posting in the mobiles section couple of weeks before release that a big reason I wanted the new iphone was that the awesome new antenna would mean I would get a way better signal for browsing the web :p I have since changed from o2 to 3 and its the best, I can't believe how good it is. Get h or 3g everwhere, really impressed. if anyone is in a one month rolling contract I highly recommend trying out a one month 3 sim, hell just order one and then send it back within 14days if you wanted, nothing to lose but potentially a lot of h to gain ;)

Right...

I've done http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=955742 and I've stuck a bit of sellotape on the outside of the phone (from the mic grill to 3mm above the black line).

Now deliberately doing the death grip (I'm at work) I can get it to go from O2 5 bars of EDGE down to 2 bars. Previously I could make it go down to searching.
Holding it in my left hand (not gripping tightly) will make it lose a bar.

My £600 phone is now usable.

I must admit, I need to have a moan about battery also.

I fully charged my iPhone 4 all day, battery at 100%, went to bed (11:30pm) got up (7:30am) and battery is dead. This happens most nights now. I have WiFi turned off but 3G on (I don't see how you can design a phone where I need to turn 3G on and off to make the battery last in standby all night!!

Day time, with very light usage I normally can get to about 3:30pm before it dies on me.

This seemed a touch ridiculous, so I've ordered a replacement from Vodafone, will see how this one performs. If it is the same then I'm sending the thing back.
