I am getting an issue when trying to import my photos and videos from my iphone. Sometimes, some of them will import, before I get an error message. Sometimes I can only get one to import before an error message. The error messages range from 'error importing file' (or something to that effect) and something to do with not being able to read the file format. I hope a software update will fix this soon.

Great....so my replacement phone has decided to lose all speaker functionality, tried resetting, erasing the phone...nothing. Seems the bottom speaker is dead. I'm slowly losing my patience, and I really can't be bothered to trek it all the way to the regent street store considering the last time I had to wait over an hour past my appointment time.

I love apple products, but I'm inclined to agree, my iPhone experience has been far from smooth and I'm seriously ticked off at the lack of quality control that seems to be present with these iPhones.

While it has problems, I wouldn't go as far as calling it a 'heap of junk' :p

Yeah you are right. I am frustrated with the thing and that's why I said that. It's actually a very nice piece of hardware, but apple need to change some things. If they did I would get one again. At the moment it's in the box waiting for Vodafone to send out the returns bag unfortunately. I use my phone for business, and this thing just didn't do the business :D

anyone else had problem where after the carrier update they can not browse and check e-maisl any more? ive done every suggested on o2 forums and o2 site and i still cant browse

Mine's working fine now, although I am on my third!

Quality control does seem an issue, but it also took me 3 goes to get a functional iPhone 3G... and that was replaced again after 11 months due to the WiFi chip burning out.

My first iPhone 4 had dust under the camera lens, and the second had a completely non-functional camera - just showed the shutter screen. Third seems fine, but I'm now convinced this one's going to die on me at any moment!

When the iPhone 4 was released last month, I put my name down on a no obligation waiting list at my local Apple store.

I've just received an email saying that its in stock and ready for me to pick up although I don't think I'm going to. When I tried the phone in store, I thought that everything was great but I've been put off by the reception issue.

I plan on waiting until the first iOS 4 update is released to see what people think and if its resolves the main issues then I'll get one. If not, then I guess I'll stick with my 3G (which is running iOS 4 and although its alittle slow sometimes, it will do).

I think its a real shame that such a great phone has this annoying issue!

The update that Apple are releasing in the next week will 100% not fix the "issue". Its going to change the algorithm used to decide how many bars to display for the signal, the signal itself will stay exactly the same.

I imagine they will fix the reception issue in later batches and those that notice the problem will probably be able to replace their phones under Apples discretion. Although I think they'll never actually admit there's a problem.

Well that's odd my speaker just decided to start working again think I'll just plug along with this one and if it develops the fault again then I'll change it.

Edit: scratch that it's gone again :(

I compared the iPhone 4 against the 3GS, n900, n97mini and Sony x1 and found when using opera to open websites the iPhone would come last almost all the time. I was shocked that the 3GS came first most of te time!

Well my return date for my iPhone 4 to Apple was the 7th of this month. That date has come and gone and I've decided to keep mine.

Bar the antenna issues, I have yet to have a dropped call and given that O2's 3G is crap in London anyway, web surfing speeds are no different. I hold the phone deep in my palm as I did my 3G but despite the bars dropping I still have no dropped calls.

I've also got three workmates who are in the same situation. No real issues from day to day usage.

Most annoying is that I still haven't come to terms with the fact that I own a more powerful phone than my 3G. I am still avoiding all these camera/photoshop apps thinking I have a rubbish 2MP camera...

having been using mine since saturday. batteries run low even when i am not using. unplugg it when i wake at 5am, today i didnt use it till 1pm bar was at 49% right now its red a needs charging. this was not the case with my 3g on a day like today it woula had afull charge at 1pm, and would still be usable at this time. before anyone asks push, wifi, bluetooth and location are off

problem 2 is i can not browse unless i do a reboot if it goes into stand by and i wana browse or send an e-mail it needs another reboot

Battery sounds faulty to me mate, my battery is way better than that. Give AppleCare a call.

Did you read up on the issue whereby battery life was affected if you restored the iPhone 4 from a 3G / S backup? Could that be affecting you?

My battery lasted something like 7 hours actual usage, 5 days standby before it needed charging today.

hmm no i didn't read up on the issue but someone i know that jumped from 2g to 3gs said restore from old phone did that. is there a ways to keep texts and contact lists if i do it fresh?

sure hope its not a dodgy battery tho at the same time i am glad i havent sold on my 3g yet
