Sam

Their signal was absolutely horrible at my house.

Be sure to borrow somebody else's phone at your house before you buy. We get great strong o2, orange, vodafone coverage, but the three coverage was dire.Thats only our area though, but the point about checking signal in your area still stands.

Doesn't sim only + handset cost work out cheaper?

Not really.. there is not much in it. (depending on what sim)

and with contract your not coughing up £600 notes on the day.

The contract Ive gone with on Three Network - £37 x 24 + £89 = £977

Average Sim only with the same usage ~£15 x 24 + £599 = £959

a whopping £18 saving and your £511 out of pocket on the day.

Yeh but the big bonus there is that you are not in a long contract and you can jump from network to network when you like.

I will never go on long contracts with phones again.

Plus most people would buy a £10.00 sim to get unl data and little mins/texts.

yeah that is that added bonus.

but i switched from Orange to 3 when I got the iPhone 4 2 odd years ago and never looked back the area coverage is so much better and most other Networks charge for tethering.. Very happy with 3

So I know i'm not going to jumping between networks anytime soon, and my iPhone 4 has lasted 2 years so I'm pretty sure the 5 will. So I'm happy being in a contract.

plus I can upgrade a good 6 months before the full 24 months is up, so technically its only around 18.

EDIT: Even with a £10 Sim it saves ~£130 which still doesn't make coughing up £599 on the day too appealing.

1GB of data on a smartphone is ludicrous.

Indeed! Never understood it as a limit :/

It's worse in the US where they have to pay more for using Facetime over celluar - It's ridiculous - Data should be data, they shouldn't be able to class differences :(

In the US their minutes allowance goes down if someone calls them! screw that!

Vodaphone tariffs have been added to the spreadsheet, seems their 12 month contracts are the best all around, but have the largest initial outlay on the cost of the handset.
