iPhone 6+ bendgate issue.

To be fair though, I had an iPhone 4 and it worked perfectly whichever way I held it which is another reason why I'm sceptical of this one.

I had an iPhone 4 too and I thought it was a great phone (I was even quite pleased the flaw got me a free bumper as it felt better with one) but there was a drop in signal strength if I were to hold it a certain way.

Anyway I didn't mean it as a complaint, I was just addressing the point that we shouldn't overlook the obvious because how could they miss such a glaring problem? It happens all the time.

Where else would you put it?
Had a bigger phone in my pocket for what 6months and it's still straight. Lumina 1320.
It's not indomitable. It certainly looks like a design issue, rather than hype (antenna gate was so over hyped)

It's ridiculous saying people shouldn't put it in your pocket.
It's not the only device with such issue. Surface2 is similar with it being easy to bend around the dock port.
Exactly!

I've been carrying my Sony Xperia Z Ultra around in my pocket for over a year and guess what... no bending!

Big fail by Apple.

I can already hear the Apple fanboys "b...b...but apple have the best design and build quality evarrrr! ;)

iPhone 4/4s was the best built/designed iPhone to date. The 5 and 6 don't even come close to it on build quality.

Thought the 5 is just like a 4 but longer and they removed that rear glass with solid metal...because people were breaking the glass too easily.

Shame about straight edges and back. Which makes it horrible to hold. Design over function. Straight edge phones look great, but don't feel great. At least ip6 has rounded edges, still flat back though. And glass on the back was silly, again design over function. Smashed the back of mine. More should follow htc one m8, great construction and one of the best feeling phones in the hand.

This again seems to by style over function, that is causing the issue, however minor or major it turns out to be.

I actually found the iphone 4 and 5 pretty nice to hold, the chamfered edges rounded off the corners enough for it not to be uncomfortable. My brother got the new iphone 6 and it felt a little too slippery to me, like it could easily fall out of the hand if you weren't careful.

Imgur delivers.

My colleague has a 6 (not a 6+) and his is slightly bent diagonally (it doesn't lay completely flush face down).

I don't think it's a massive issue but then he's only had it since Sunday so after a year of use it may be pretty bad.

Personally I would ****ed that a top of the line, brand new phone that is less than a week old has any minor defect.

This is a complete non issue tbh, 10 million phones sold and a handful are affected. If it wasn't for the fact it was Apple then it wouldn't even be newsworthy

Bet samsung are beavering away at a new US ad...

We make our phones out of cheap nasty plastic so you can sit your fat arse down in your ill fitting jeans without worrying not like those 'wall huggers' hurh hurh...

You comment comes across as so bitter. Yet the materials you label as 'cheap' arent causing their phones to break in less than a week..
I think competitors have a right to duly use this to their advantage in the US ad space. It should not have happened, especially for all the talk Apple give about quality building materials in their products.

Pretty much sums it up. I've had a 6+ since launch and it's been in various pockets, jeans (baggy and skinny), trousers, jackets etc for short/long periods and haven't had any issues at all.

Would be a major issue for me if I had spent that kind of money. There is two people at my work with this non issue.

LOL, it's far from a non-issue! The number of incidents may be low compared to the total volume sold but the fact there is such a fuss about it only a few days after launch tells you that it's far from a few isolated incidents. The fact is that both models of the 6 bend far more easily than did any iPhone model before them and more easily than most of their competitors.

Whether the forces being applied to these devices by customers are "reasonable" or not is highly subjective but the fact remains that the 6 is far more fragile than any iPhone before it.

I find it amusing that Apple dropped the glass back of the 4 & 4S, which IMO was a beautiful piece of design and felt awesome in the hand, ostensibly because it made the phones too prone to breakage when dropped, yet now they've made them so thin that they've become more fragile still.

I remember handling a Galaxy S4 when it first appeared and remarking on what a flimsy piece of plastic crap it was, not only compared to the iPhone but also Android competitors like the HTC One. Build quality has always been one of Apple's main selling points and any reduction in this, which the 6 has clearly demonstrated, is going to harm that image.

If you read that thread that is only a few people with actually bent phones - this is just because it's Apple any other company and no one would care.

There's way more then a few in that thread, a much higher amount then would be expected and that's only on Reddit. Apple fanboys can be so ignorant it's unreal.

What's more worrying is the amount of people that say "I thought my iphone was fine until I read this thread so I just checked my iphone and it's slightly bent!" the subtlety of the original bend is disguising how widespread the issue really is.
