Only just noticed that the bottom now only has one speak grill as apposed to the 2 grill, 1 speaker arrangement on the 5 and 5S... How can they not just put stereo speakers in at the bottom.

I believe the grill between the lightning connector and headphone jack on the 5/5S was just a fake for aesthetics.

The 5 and 5S (and everything before them) have a single speaker on one side, and one grill for the speaker. The other is for the microphone.

Why would you put stereo speakers on the bottom of the device, where they are right next to each other? They'd almost be the same as a single speaker and would require more space.

Can someone explain why the camera lens now sticks out of the iphone? Why has no reviewer / website challenged Apple on this / mentioned it on their articles?

Pretty tired of the supposed experts never questioning any downside to Apple products. Are they paid off or something?

Surely someone should be mentioning the horrid antenna bars and stick out lens on their articles?!

I'd see that as a positive. It should mean better quality pictures.

A decent lens is far more important than uber megapixels.

The camera is also better.

During the presentation last night they were also trying to sell the new 6 as a replacement for a camcorder. My reaction being 'in your dreams'. So how many times optical zoom will that be then?

Didn't stop the idiots in the audience clapping away like demented seals though.

Physics.

Bigger sensor need a bigger lens, how light goes through those glass is important for sharpness, vignetting and even focusing.

Sensor isn't bigger since the pixels size hasn't increased, its just they need a fixed amount of Z-index and thats more then the device thinness and they picked a camera sticking out as the right compromise.

He has a point though, but its not specific to the iPhone.

Who uses a camcorder these days? I'd bet the home market is tiny.

Heh.

Having slept on it, the 6+ is still too big for me. The dimensions of the 6 are pretty much bang on those of my work phone - Blackberry Z10 (hateful device) - and that's as large as I can comfortably go. So I think it'll be a 6 64 gb for me, in gold - same as my 5S.

A better question would be who in their right mind would use a phone to video anything other than a candid clip. Same applies to stills, I only ever use mine as a camera of last resort. For any sort of proper photography I use the right tool for the job.

Smartphones try to do to many jobs and so most of what they do is a flawed compromise.

Newsflash - most photography and video recording is candid shots. Nobody is saying "take professional photos and videos on a phone". They're saying "you know what, for holiday photos and videos of people jumping into a pool this is fine". And they are right. The camera market is now smartphones and professional gear (and old people who don't understand smartphones but that's a statistical blip).

Unless you're the guy with his Sony CineAlta on the beach.

What exactly is it that you film?

The majority of people is the answer to that.

While I'm a Photographer, so I totally see where you are coming from, not everyone is that involved, which is why having a good phone camera is all that is needed, which is why point and shoots and camcorders are dying away.
