And again, what evidence is there to support that this is due to RAM rather than something else? Not trying to be an ****, it's a genuine question. There's a few sites out there that are plain terrible on mobile devices and the issues people are encountering could be due to any number of reasons. If it's a memory leak for example, then the same would happen with 2GB of RAM just a little later on down the line.

As I've said above, since I switched back to iOS in February, I've never encountered the above issue in Chrome.

Common sense. This has been occurring since forever and every time they add more RAM to the device's, this problem occurs less and less.

It's not just about website experience. Games could offer better graphics if developers are given more RAM to play with. Better textures among other things. Having more RAM has never hurt the device.

If the current models don't have 2GB we will need to wait till 2016 and hope we get an upgrade...2016

I don't agree. Yet to encounter any problem with "only" 1GB RAM in my iPhone 6 in the 51 weeks I've had it.

As I said, it seems to vary from user to user - I guess the OcUK forum is probably very badly coded (by modern standards) so would eat the RAM quickly with multiple tabs open where as the sites I tend to browse are optimised for mobile very well so probably don't use much RAM at all.

The 1gb ram isn't the end of the world, however it is inconvenient. I often find spotify for instance stops working when I hit play on the headphones or in the car because I've used enough other apps in the meantime so it closed and needs reloading. Not going to jump in front of traffic over it, but it could be rectified with a boost of ram (or at least less noticeable).

I don't see why that's Apple issue to fix with hardware. Spotify could make their app use less RAM.

Do the new models do wireless charging?

No

Well, to be fair its an issue both sides could help to address - More RAM would be nice and give some headroom but it would also be nice for developers to properly optimise their apps. Spotify for example still have lots of issues and bugs which existed from day one - such as how sometimes it fails to purge its temporary storage resulting in having to delete and re-download the app to free up space.

iPhones as devices really have some really weird specifications.

16Gb is still standard. Far too low if the device does not offer sd card expansion. Especially now with 4K recording, a feature that almost cannot be used on 16GB iPhones.
1GB of RAM. Again too low for a device that cost over £500. Adding an extra 1GB of RAM would cost them a couple of dollars per device.
Small Battery capacities.

In some areas, iPhones are leading the field, in others they are lacking years behind competition.

How will spotify know I've used 5 apps in between and somehow know when I hit play that it needs to restart itself? It's not like Music takes over in it's place either, no music will start up.

4K video recording (3840x2160) at 30 fps
Out of interest, just how much storage would be required per minute for this sort of video size?

Depends on the compression that Apple use - and if it follows the same pattern as their other video formats (standard 1080p and 240fps slow-mo 720p) then it produces file sizes smaller then other devices such as stand-a-lone cameras - however your probably looking at 75-100mb/s, so you wouldn't get much out of the 16gb option.
Tbh I don't know why they even included the 4k recording option - its not like anyone on a phone ever shouted that they really needed it - it feels like one of those features that they included for the sake of stating it on a spec sheet - something Apple have slated Android for doing in the past.

Can someone with a dev account post the MD5 hash of the iOS 9 GM for the 5S? Want to make sure my dodgy downloads are actually legit.

A lot. On my Z3 Compact, 1 min used 400MB.

A useless feature on a 16GB version of the iPhone. A couple of minutes of recording and you would be out of storage.

It's a static platform, every iPhone 6 is the same. Unlike say the 4.7" android equivalent. Either the users complaining are keeping thrumpty million apps open and Safari with umpteen tabs, or it's lazy coding, or somewhere inbetween.

For those saying "look at the apple forums", that doesn't wash either. Sell 100 million plus handsets and a few people will complain on an internet forum. The other 99,999,000 are all happily using their devices.

While it may be pathetic, it's designed to get people to sign up to iCloud storage or move to the 64GB version. It's typical Apple marketing.

One thing I really want as an unlimited data customer, is the ability to upload to iCloud when on data, such as photos. Really annoys me that I can't override it.

Do apple still disallow the download of large apps over mobile data?

16Gb is fine for me, I don't store music or videos on it. If you need more than get the higher model?

They've not mentioned the battery life, which makes me suspect it might have gone down a bit, and also the phones are a bit larger.
