That is such an odd choice, the old processor, but more ram.
Everything else a new processor, and no ram.
Obviously there are reasons, chip stock etc, but seems odd to me.

Doubt its any off that, more then anything is that the iPhone and moreover the base models make up a huge % of Apples profit. Now if you sell 100m of something a year and you can shave off £3 here by keeping it at 16GB, and another few quid here by staying 1GB ram it quickly adds up to an extra £1,000,000,000 . Tough for a business to give that up, my only worry is that now the camera is 12MP, and does 4K that 16GB will be tighter then ever, and the cameras do that thing HTC does where it takes a few seconds before, so every photo has a tiny video before it too.

Ram they can get away from it, it can run 1 app fine and a lot of smaller apps, its just that once you try something like the Air2 where I have huge 3D games in the background for weeks it makes the iPhone feel meh. But I worry about this 16GB, most of my friends/family have literally no space, and they will never spend anymore then the base model as contractors can sometimes be £300 more for a higher storage tier. Most of them have also used up the small iCloud storage they get.

Can someone explain Force Touch? Is it like a more mature/advanced version of long hold on Android but with hepatic feedback?

Same, I get on excellently with the size of my 6 Plus, you soon get used to it and the normal 6 seems a bit weedy!

Haha same here, got used to the Nexus 6 in no time. Helps when the phone is belter.

And there it was most people a while ago were mocking big phones. Pah.

I think I'm going to sit tight and see what the battery life is like on this before ordering.

Small battery, more RAM, taptics, etc. all point to worse battery life - something Apple clearly doesn't care about after the Watch battery life dramas. I honestly think they believe charging a device more than once every 24 hours is acceptable.

Also, my 5S screen started flickering this morning and the battery has dumped 20% since 8am. What are the odds? :D

Must admit I am underwhelmed. Everything presented like it was a revolution, like the Apple TV, which looks no better than a Fire TV (which I personally prefer as it has Kodi support)

Debating whether to get a 6s Plus from my 6 Plus but not sure I want to chuck £699 on one for what I think is a incremental upgrade. Only reason giving me the itch is my g/f wants my 6 Plus.

To paraphrase a Matrix quote:

"You get used to it, I don't even see the sales hype anymore. All I see is processor, RAM, screen size. Hey, do you want a drink?"

It's the same every year, the cheesey standing ovations, the clapping like they've just solved world hunger, the deliberate pausing for effect, the restatement and summarisation, and the god-damned terrible music at the end of every damned keynote. However there's normally a nice shiny new phone once you've waded through it all. :)

I've decided I will pick up one of the new Apple TVs. It's not quite what I was hoping for (an A9 would have been nice) but should be interesting seeing what crazy App ideas people come up with going forwards. I also like the idea of using Siri to pause Netflix etc. The mic on remote idea is very good. I get pretty annoyed telling my Xbox One Kinect to pause only for it to never hear me from across the room.

As for the rest, all a bit meh this year. iPad Pro is a fail imo. All it has done is get me excited about what MS will announce with regards to the inevitable Surface Pro 4. I suspect I will buy one of those instead. Definitely more than happy with my 6 plus at the moment and will look forward to trying out all these incremental features next year with the iPhone 7 announcement.

It's a worldwide launch, I see. Preorders go live at 12.01am Pacific Time.

Great, can't wait until their servers melt and we can't order.

4k disabled on 16Gb models, much to noones surprise.

source

I read it as "disabled by default (on all iphones)" as in - when you press record button for the first time it shoots in 1080, you have to go specifically to menu and enable 4k, just so people who never change defaults don't run out of storage on their first school play outing.
