iphone down to £169

My american iphone went screwy about a week back, no audio except out of headphones (just the right hand side) or if the phone was in speaker mode when making a call. Bloody annoying as i liked the phone, repair is only posible if i have a relative in america that can do the return for me as uk support wont take anything to do with it (apparently due to them needing some special persmission from apple u.s as supposodly the american versions have some different components inside). Had it since last august :(

Might try one of those uk sites that say they can fix it, ended up buying one of the phones on offer tonight anyway.

I also love how apple were tight assed enough NOT to include any headphones with the iphones in the uk now. Was told tonight in CW that theyve stopped putting headphones in the box even though theyre listed on the back and sure enough no headphones in the sealed box. And they expect people to pay £20 for the ones that should come with it, my arse. I'll stick to my sennheisers and a jack adaptor. Suprised how apple dont seem to have an official jack adaptor out as recessing the jack as much as they did to make headphones need some kind of third party attachment was just downright cheesy.

If i did switch, i would get an O2 pay as you go sim card and get the 'Unlimited browsing' bolt on for £7.50 a month. Seems pretty decent, hopefully they aren't too up tight about the whole "200mb=unlimited policy" of theirs though.

Can you do this? I'm looking at the website now and I only see the bolt on on the £25 a month contracts and above?
I have my virgin sim in at the moment, and the browsing is tempting, but expensive.

I'm sure I'd read somewhere that the data bolt on was only available on monthly contracts, not pay as you go. Though the simplicity one can be cancelled with a months notice and if you really want to save as much money as possible you could put the data bolt on onto the £15pm tariff for a total of £22.50pm....

Ok one main question. I am assuming that if I get one and put in my Orange contract sim into it, I will not be able to use EDGE, only GPRS. Is this correct? Is there anyway to get EDGE with a different sim at all (if it is correct) as I dont think I could stand GPRS speed internet.
Orange has an EDGE network. Pretty crap coverage though, I rarely get it.

For those wanting to disable EDGE/GPRS, there's a fairly easy solution. You'll kick yourself. Where it asks you to type in your GPRS/EDGE details, just change them by adding something to the apn name (e.g. change it from orangeinternet to orangeinternet-) and it'll break it. If you want to use it, just correct it.

Ok, strange icon appeared on my iphone today when i took it out of my house and outside the wifi range. Where the wifi signal was, it now has just a rectangle. If I get a wifi signal, that goes and turn back to a normal wifi signal again.

Is that normal? It doesn't do that on my itouch.

The wifi signal is either there or not, never had that rectancular box before.

i can not believe the amount of people still paying like £250/£275/£300 on ebay for an 8gb unlocked phone!

They are £169 brand new and a 5 mins job to unlock. Tempted to buy another few myself and bung them on the bay!!

Wake up people!!!
