iphone down to £169

You can take out a 'sim only' contract from any of the major networks I believe. They work on the basis of a 1 month rolling contract, and you get plenty for your money because you're not taking a phone. Order it from the web though, direct from the network, you'll get the best price that way.

What's wrong with the O2 ones? The £25p/m simplicity is the best I've seen, 600m 1000t, unlimited web.

I have already explained this.

I dont want to use my PAYG sim card, I want to get a contract now I'll have regular money, but I dont want to go on 02 as they suck and dont do the tarrifs I want. I wanted to know if I could go to carphone warehouse or something, say I just want a contract, no phone, just the sim, buy the iPhone and then unlock it, then put the contracted sim in it once activated.

Tis all.

Yes you can. Just don't tell them that your going to unlock an iPhone and i would get the two from different places :)

Or get the contract with another phone from CPW and sell that phone.

Does anybody know if Cydia is better than BSD Subsystem? I have been reading that Cydia offers better stability but i have read on a few places that it's not as good, so there are mixed views.

Anybody use/used Cydia?

Noo i dont think they do with the iPhone.

No, they won't give you that with the iPhone, it's a SIM only tariff, you're getting the extra credits because they're not having to subsidise the phone they give you. Order that Simplicity deal from their site, grab a phone from the shop and Robert's your mum's brother.

Glad you brought this up as I was thinking about this today. Basically as far as an installer goes it's very good, especially considering it gives you the option of installing apps under var. That said it's a bit more difficult to make sources for so for the time being installer is still the way to go.

As far as the BSD side of things goes I hear that root/alpine works for terminal apps without any patching. Aside from that I couldn't comment on the benefits.

Also is building Cydia into the next ziphone release, as well as 2.0 beta support :)

So in short when the next release of ziphone is out, if Cydia has many apps missing then I'll just stick installer on there as my backup package manager :)

I may pickup another iPhone but I was wondering... whats better...
iLiberty and restoring the BL to 4.6?
Or ziphone and then bootneutering?

Or is there no difference?

Yeah I was planning on keeping Installer anyway. I was looking into it more for a replacement to BSD rather than the Installer side.

Not sure what to do, I mite leave both uninstalled for the moment while i find out a bit more about the situation :)

ziphone is by far the easiest way to go. Can't see any benefit to restoring the BL to 4.6 but if you really want to then bootneuter is the way to go.

Me too buddy. But tbh, a lot of people have been banging on about it... so I thought.. what the hey :)

I saw a report which mentioned that using Ziphone could ultimately mean that the 32mb flash inside the iphone can get clogged up or something...

But you reckon ZiPhone + Boot Neuter = way to go?

I used pc modd's guide and used pwnage, involves some downloading of files but worked fine and automatically did the bootloader thing.

Any comments on how it functions as a phone, call clarity, signal etc? :p :)

signal is generally worse than other phones I've had. Speakers are dog poo, camera is very poor, but other than that the best phone I've owned by a country mile! Texting is very easy and better laid out, it is amazing for games etc.

Id just like to thank you guys for all your help. I bought and pwned my phone last night, worked great. One thing i had to do which was a little pants, was to download iSim. Seems silly that something similar isnt built in to the phones software.
