iPhone/iPod Touch Firmware 2.2 is up

Jailbroke my 3G yesterday, everything seemed fine, worked great.

Tonight however, everhting I did on the phone caused it to freeze/lock up and I would have to force reboot it. Would happen no matter what, wether I be on Safari, or checking some SMS.

Even turned it off for a good hour, but still doing it.

Just running restore now...anyone ever heard of this problem?

Mine died today, pulled it from my pocket and it was blank, tried the power button, nothing only after a full reset would it start up (on full battery aswell) .......

NXE is the "New Xbox Experience" for the Xbox 360. It completely transforms the 360 dashboard and enables users to install games to the 360's hard drive.

Also as mentioned. What about the iPhone 3G PAYG?

There is only 1 xbox. If they had 2 different xbox's, one which required a LIVE sub and a different xbox with some things missing, say it didn't connect to the net at all, therefore didn't allow the LIVE sub. They would only give the update for free to the LIVE sub version and not the other one, they would have to pay.

But as it is, there is only 1 hardware model for the xbox and the NXE is free as it is for one piece of hardware.

Mine seems to be fine so far (2.2 with JB). Although I have noticed it is a bit laggy?

If I SSH into the phone I notice that there are duplicate folders. IE applications/ringtones/wallpapers with different ending codes. I assume that the update has just left the old files there and created new ones :( Bit messy?

I was tempted to "restore" to 2.2 fresh then maybe JB again. So all files are wiped and then flashed with the firmware.
What is the best way to do this? Would I have to activate my phone again?

I'm not bothered about keeping any of my settings really, wouldn't take me long to get them setup again.

I've also heard about not installing "installer" when JB making a difference, smoe people reckon this slows this down even just being on springboard.

Yeah I heard that about installer.. maybe thats causing problems.

The way I restored was in Itunes, did a back up of my contacts etc, then hit restore from the menu.

Left it for 30mins and my phone was restored as new, with all my photos and contacts, messages etc.

I pressed "restore" the other day after losing my contacts from both outlook + my iphone. It said it only restores contacts/pics etc... and didn't touch the firmware?

Mine restore everything, I even got the welcome screen you get when you first get your iphone and switch it on.

Weird...

I may give this a blast later then. Seems a good idea to start again, especially with all these duplicate folders around. Seems pretty poor for an official update.

Does it prompt to "set up as new phone" or to "backup from a previous" backup after it has flashed the phone?

Should do.

Installer is a nightmare for JB, should be left out completely from devteam programs, Cydia is the only one that works most of the time even if that is a little bit rubbish.

I have restored my 2G back to an unjailbroken state and activated it with my 02 Simplicity SIM, wasn't gaining anything by having it jailbroken tbh.

Some of the toggle options seem a bit dodgy. The keyboard hit sound and caps lock options ignored my selection until I rebooted a couple of times.

Can I update through iTunes? I only really care about the baseband unlock on my Non-3G iPhone.

Sweet, restored earlier- went fine. Now jailbreaking without installer.

Wasn't happy with all the duplicate folders and 500MB less :)

Will see what difference not having installer makes. There was an update out for winterboard too which was meant to have massive speed increase over the previous version.

Be interesting to see how you get on, let us know. As I wanna JB mine back, but not till I know its more stable.

Seems fine so far mate, although a couple of times it's said "cannot activate data network"... a quick airplane on + off sorts it though.

Device speed seems fine. I restored, JB (without installer) and then changed the mobileinstallation file (2.1 still works).

Only issue I have so far is m-box for hotmail doesn't seem to like 2.2

Do iiiiittt :D
