iphone!?

It looks like the iphone is missing functions that may not be commonly used in the states but are here. The main ones I can name off the top of my head are 3g (still no definate word on weather the european version will have it), video recording and media messaging. Give me an N95 over an iphone any day.

i used an iPhone while i was on holiday last week.

it is SO cool! the touch screen is very sensitive but not overly sensitive, just right in fact. the menu is system seemed quite logical, maps was cool but shame it hasnt got a gps built into it. music selection was kinda cool, different to the ipod but not in a bad or good way just different.

my main gripe was texting! with fat fingers it can be quite difficult, but im sure you get used to it after a few texts

definately getting it when it comes out here!

i was really looking forward to getting one of these but the way apple have been treating people with this phone and the prices am just not bothered by it now :(

I was watching BBC Click Online yesterday and it seems that with the iPhone when you are sending emails you cant go into lanscape mode which means you are forced to use the narrow portrait keyboard which eats screen space.

I think thats pretty stupid especially when you are constructing emails...

Im also surprised you cant expand the internal memory - but I guess thats something I would personal want - since 4/8GB isnt that small for most...

I'd of been more surprised if that hey hadn't tbh. What with being owned by one of the largest telecommunications operators in the work.

You mean Telefonica ;)

Well Voda have Blackberry and Orange rebrand everything Orange so.. only other one is 3.

3 is a bit of a joke though, well they used to be anyway. Blackberry isn't voda exclusive and organge is...just orange really.

Plus with the O2 Arena now public a new handset like the iphone would make sense.

I don't know what was going on with my other post btw, corrected now.

We cared a lot about battery life and we cared a lot about physical size," he said. "Down the road, I'm sure some of those tradeoffs will become more favourable towards 3G but as of now we think we made a pretty good decision.

They can't really put 3G in now without Steve Jobs looking like a complete idiot.

Lol thats a phoney website :P

Iphone isnt a function based phone like the N95. Therefore missing functions are not important for what it is.

Well they've corrected the article so it's now saying before december! It's very unlikely to be 3G, there's not enough time for them to implement it in the phone design, maybe next year tho. And that last link is pretty unlikely, a free iphone on a £35 12 month contract?? I wish!! It costs £100 for an N95 on that kinda contract, and I imagine the iPhone will be more.

I'm a bit concerned about the whole data thing, O2 have no EDGE network atm as far as i know, if they get the iphone deal then they'd better do some quick upgrades! They'd better sort out their price plans too, data is ridiculous atm, £3/mb?!? T-Mobile seem to do the best data deals, and have unlimited use for £7.50/month, altho that's limited to 1GB/month (which aint too much of a restriction, chances are you'd not bother using EDGE if you could help it due to it being pretty much like 56k again!), i'd be quite happy to pay that kinda money :)

It seems a very flimsy phone to me a lot like the lg prada, which a freind of mine had i think it last about 3 weeks befor the screen borked.

Just another gimmick me thinks.

Stick with nokia id say.

What are you judging "flimsy" by? Pictures? Other Companies entirely different phones?

Also people saying it's crap because it doesn't have 3rd party applications: THE IPHONE IS NOT A SMARTPHONE. The reason it is so stable is for this reason. Most people don't even use 3rd party apps on smartphones.

IMO the iPhone has revolutionised the mobile phone market, bringing style, features and a revolutionary UI to a boring stagnant market giving a kick up the backside to other companies. Who would have thought a year ago that people would be queuing outside stores for a phone?
