IPStream Max launch official - 31st March (including BT Broadband upgrade)

Samknows lists my exchange status as "RFS date set" and enable date as "31 Mar 2006 (Tentative)" I know tentative means a date hasn't been confirmed, but does this information suggest my exchange will get ADSL Max at some point?

Not that it will matter too much to me; I'm too far from my exchange to get 2048/256 at the moment :(

That's based on the current rules. You'll probably get more than 2Mb - use your stats in the calculator posted a page or so ago for an estimate.
 
Brixton exchange looks set to be enabled on the 31st of March this year too. I've been on 8mbit Bulldog for more than 6 months already though... The exchange is less than 800 metres away as the crow flies. :o
 
Yes, but you won't get the full throughput through a USB modem (I've said this about 3 times now I think :p ).

Zen staff have stated that they had problems with USB modems on the MaxDSL trial, and they've stopped selling them now.
 
Bulldog issued a registry fix before for the 330 USBs because folks weren't getting full throughput either.
End of the day, USB modems are crap, forget about em. Sooner ISPs do the same the better, as far as I'm concerned.

I wouldn't call them crap as I've had mine for over 3 years and it hasn't let me down but I realise that they aren't up to the job of taking advantage of Max DSL.
I'm going to be upgrading to a router soon.

Hello fellow demon ADSL user, i have demon as well.

No idea when they are going to give us the option to upgrade though :( if ever!

They took ages to upgrade me or at least try to from 512kbps to 2mbps, even though i could not get it my mates at work had 2mbps from there provides for ages before demon even attempted to upgrade me!

I don't have high hopes so might look at changing.

You will need to have a Modem / Router which tells you your Line Attenuation and Noise Margin though.

Yep, but you've missed the boat for the trial now I think.. although the 'last order' date could be today (6th) if I remember correctly.

You'll probably have to wait until the 31st now.

Aw, if only I knew about this sooner. But i'm in no rush anyway.
 
I'm with Zen Home 2000 changing to new 8 Mb as soon as exchange is enabled. should be end of this month but might be a tad longer. As OllyM says, Zen have stopped selling USB modems and recommend routers only for the rate adaptive service. Using speedtouch 330 USB modem at the moment but router on order. :D

sorry its just im using a adsl router, so i forgot about the usb modem users :o
i should be ok though :)
