iRacing

Getting into the low 2:06's now at Bathurst, maybe I've got another second in me, but keeping away from the walls at the top of the hill is proving trickier than getting faster.

It's a very rewarding track when you string a decent lap together. Just got to manage to run a race distance comfortably and without touching the walls at all and then I'll give a real race a go.

I braved my first race last night and managed to clip the wall and apparently did it enough to mess up my steering. Really annoyed as I was in 2nd place but I am going to keep trying to get at least two decent results this week.

I'd class a decent result as a finish.

Aiming to practice a bit tonight and maybe Saturday and race on Sunday. That is unless there's more wardrobes to fit.

Anyone else getting stuttering with high frame rates at certain sections of Bathurst?

I don't suppose anyone has a cheap wheel they would be willing to sell? :p I am desperate to get into iRacing but currently can't afford a second hand one. :(

WIll post this in the wanted section, but thought as this is a busy thread more relevant people might see it here.

I picked my wheel up reduced from £50 to £19 in a sale in that music shop with the dog. you'd be surprised what crazy little offers you can find in not typically PC shops xD think only reason it was there was it could work on PS3 too xD

oh yea, didn't get a chance last night. forgot was going out for a family meal and then to a VW showroom opening (they had the Go Compare guy singing some opera....didn't realise he was Welsh :D :p )

Mid 2.04s for me with race fuel and without hitting walls lol
Running Wing setting 4 with 60.5 brake bias

I really should get into the habit of running laps slowly and gradually building speed. But I usually just go for it on every lap and end up hitting the wall.

this was/still is me on grid 2. there's no such thing as analogue throttle.... it's all or nothing xD more often than not... it's all.......into a wall :p

Sweet, just got three months for the price of one with a promo email sent out today. Maybe now I'll get myself out of Rookie. :p

How does the MX-5 drive now that the tyre model has been updated? Is it a massive difference? I think last time I tried it was the previous version, though admittedly I'm not 100% sure.

I had one race in it and to be honest I didn't notice much difference, perhaps it might be easier to drive as I got 0 incident points in my race, I didn't have any hairy moments at all.

Already supports it but you'd be unwise to use one until a higher res model is released as picking out braking points etc on a resolution which looks like it's from the 90s is very tricky

Just bought Bathurst, my my I'm loving it, this is a great version. Sadly I suck at iR so best I've managed is a 1:52.8 in the F1 car :D

Finally got a decent result at Bathurst, finished 2nd. Going to try for one more top 5 but I am concentrating on getting my C-Class Oval so I can start racing the trucks :D

anyone know any promotion codes? I've tried the one from the site for the 3-4-1 month cost, but I think I used that initially when I first set up (and only played it like 4 times lol)

how many hours would i need to be competitive? i know in games like WOW people play for 10s of hours a day so people like me who play for a few hrs a weekend cant get anywhere.

It really depends, some people can drive safely and with a bit of pace straight off the bat and can just jump into races, others will need to spend a while practicing. Ultimately though once you've got to understand the car you can spend as little or as much time as you want, just that practice is the only thing that will make you quicker...

So done a couple of Radical races at Laguna Seca today, lost a good chunk of SR, always fun, I do hate Laguna :p

I think I may finally be getting the hang of the Radical on NTMv5 though, still seems really odd in a lot of places but getting quicker/more consistent slowly but surely.

so bought, wheel hooked up ( on my sexy new ikea desks I might add ;) ) and i've just done my first online practice session with other people.... two of them... hahah! I thinkI need a bit more practice xD

Still haven't done a Bathurst race, can't keep off the walls long enough in practice for race distance yet.

Next week is 70 minutes of Silverstone, so I really need a to bank a race this week.
