The problem 'recently' (in the context of the past 6 years..) is that they're iterating through the tyre model. Back in the old tyre model days when I joined it was commonplace to be able to use the same setups from one season to the next, and even since introducing the NTM some cars have been able to use the same setup over some seasons. But by and large with the recent releases the changes have been too big.

I'd expect in a few more releases, if/when they finally get to the end of the major work on the tyre model it might stabilise.

Although then they're talking about a 'new surface model' which is going to screw it over again.

Just had the worst race of my career so far :(

MX5 Cup at Laguna. Accidentally jumped the start and had a penalty. Fair dos, completely my fault. Got punted up the backside in T1. Then instead of stopping at the pit box I did a drive through. It wasn't until I realised the black flag didn't disappear I realised my mistake. Came in end of next lap to serve the stop/go, and bugger me if they don't waste another 50 seconds refuelling the car and changing the tyres

Then to add some more salt to my wounds, as I come out of the pits the leaders are lapping me, and I got a 1x by putting two wheels on the dirt on the ***** pit exit. Came out behind 2nd place and was managing to keep pace with him, give or take 0.3s, although I lost another 10 seconds or so letting the 3rd and 4th places through.

I was so close to 2k iRating and D4.0 as well :(

 FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

That all seems familiar, although admittedly never all in 1 race :D

One cracker i had last season wk12, GT3 @ Suzuka, its a rolling start and you're lined up behind the safety car before 130R (fast left before the final chicane) and i think i was starting around 12th in the top split, i was faffing (and i'll explain what i was faffing with in a moment) and the car in front rolled away so i brought it out of neutral and gave a little gas, only to realise in my haste, i'd put it into reverse :D I'd love to know what was going through the mind of the guy behind me as some idiot cant even put it into 1st gear properly :o Fortunately i was able to slam on the brakes almost instantly and get away without causing contact.

So, the reason i was faffing was whats now become a grid procedure which i've learned from my first dozen or so races.
Grid up, F4 to remove fuel, F5 to opt out of tyres.

Unless you're doing long distance races (70min+) where you cant go to the end on a full tank, you never need tyres or fuel. So when you get some damage, rather than sitting there while you go from a full distance 10L of fuel, to 30L full tank and fresh tyres you dont need, just dont start the race with them enabled.
IMO they shouldnt be enabled to begin with, it makes no sense for 90% of road racing, and maybe some oval racing where they'll do a tyre stop during a yellow.

Im not sure why, whether theres something within the game, but ive never been able to set up a macro on my keyboard to automatically do this for me.
F8, F4, down, down (x20etc), F5, space, down, space down... F3
That should do the trick, but it never does anything in-game, even if i do it using the keyboard macro recorder.
I suspect its something to stop macro clutch exploits?

ive just renewed my subscription and ordering a g27 monday my 15 pound thrustmaster gave up and pads just dont cut it although i get better feedback than my old relic of a wheel gave me lol

I think you'll like the G27, I'm very pleased with mine. Have a look into the GTEYE brake spr8ng mod though, it made a big difference for me and I get a good bit of speed from better braking.

Awsome I will have a look... With the price as low as 169.99 for a new unit I thought it's a no brainer I was looking at second hand g25 until I spotted the low price. Hopefully Wednesday it arrives I will give it a go.. never raced with force feedback so will be interesting

BOOM! Just got my C license and can finally do some races in some more interesting cars like the RUF, Corvette and Radical. I was putting off buying content until I managed it, so now is the time to actually pay for a subscription and some decent tracks :D

iRating is just short of 2500 now, so need to up that a bit too. Aiming for 3000 by end of the month.

Anyone racing much at the minute? I'm racing in the Spa 24hr race with Team in the RUF C-Spec.

Good luck with that, I'll be watching the broadcast. :D

My team has entered both the Neo Endurance and Masters of Endurance series. That's my weekends gone for the next few months.

The Ruf C spec is a bit of a handful, especially compared to the B license Ruf in the GT series.

Congrats on the new licence.

The C-Spec isn't too bad providing you leave yourself plenty of braking room, and remember to give the throttle pedal a nice healthy blip on downshifts.

Oh and stay away from 2nd gear. It's evil :D

Does anyone know when the schedule for S4 will be announced?

I'm trying to plan out which tracks to buy to cover me for the first few weeks of the new season. I can see that RUF Cup is at COTA this week, but I hate that place so I'm giving that one a miss.

It's in the C-Spec section on the iracing forums. It's a short season so they've made it a world tour type affair.

2014 Season 4 "World Tour"

1) Europe - Spa Francorchamps - GP Pits
2) Canada - Mosport
3) USA - Road Atlanta - Full
4) South America - Interlagos - Moto
5) Australia - Bathurst
6) Asia - Suzuka - Grand Prix

I'd say that Spa and Suzuka would be the highlights.
