Can you get to your desired league with the cars and tracks you get when u first sign up?

Car wise there's a progression:
MX-5 in Rookie
Spec Racer Ford in D-Class
MX-5 (again) in C-Class

Track wise, without spending anything, you might be limited in the D- and C-Class series to what weeks you can run (but there are almost always some weeks using basic tracks).

However if you spent the money on the tracks that are regulars in the GT3 series that would open it up without 'wasting' money.

Or the TLDR version, Yes.

I don't know off the top of my head. If you can it will be a grind.

I'd suggest logging in, look at the D & C class series and see how many you can enter with the MX-5 and Lime Rock, Summit Point etc. There's likely to be some track crossover between the non-Rookie MX-5 eligible series and the GTs if you want to buy some tracks.

Did a GT3 race last night and got hit from behind on warm up lap, again before I crossed the line to start the race and again on the exit of the hairpin.

All that in a B licence race.

Might as well play Race 07.

Did you get inc for it as well?

Because that's what essentially put me off the game, people crash, you get collected and lose iRating because of it!!

Shall look into that. Thanks everyone else.

Recently heard that the nurburgring and Aston Martin will be appearing soon aswell!

Hotlap from this weeks RUF cup @ Zandvoort. I'm never usually as close to the really fast guys but this week I'm only 1.1 seconds behind in this clip, and I ran faster by 1/10th in Quals too.

Yup.

This season in the GT3 had been awful for me.

My SR has gone from over 3.5 to just over 2.0 and my IR is down by at least 150.

And that's in either the middle or top split.

Are the drivers that aggressive?

Watched one race yesterday. A driver spins out in Spa. Car is facing a barrier and the guy just reverses into the track without hesitation. Collision was un unavoidable.

How does iracing's penalty system cope with such scenarios?

Basically both drivers would get a x4 inc.

Yes you get idiots who think they can dive up the inside from miles behind. But iRacing still has a higher standard of driving than any other sim on public servers.

The only way to avoid idiots is to join a league and race privately.

That's ok if you only want to race once or twice a week and the league has plenty of drivers.

So for the majority, iRacing is still the best option for online sim racing.

I'll give that a watch later Muska. I love that skin :)

I thought I was holding my own in MX5 cup at Summit Point this week... and then I landed in an SOF race. How the fffffudge can people do mid-low 1:24s race pace around there? My best is nearly a second off that :(

Thanks, some people can really perform magic with that MX-5!

In the C-Spec there is no ABS, I have a tenancy to pinch the front right a couple of times on that course, especially T1 as it starts to bank.

What is the fastest GT3 car this season ? I know they are much better balanced but i see all the aliens driving the mclaren and bmw and hardly any of them driving the Ruf. Is there a reason for this ?

I'm fastest in the BMW. I can't drive the MP4, I like to be aggressive on the kerbs and the MP4 just doesn't suit my driving style.

I have to say that in all the races I'm im there are hardly any MP4's.

I actually find the Ruf the easiest car to drive, but I'm just not as quick in it.

Looking at the two 5000+ SOF races today. all the aliens are running the Mclaren and BMW. Generally the slowest car is always least popular, so i guess the RUF is at a disadvantage this season ?

well they obviously require different driving styles as does pretty much every car on the service, however the RUF has always traditionally been the easiest of the GT3 cars to drive, rears generally more planted and it can rape kerbs harder than bmw and mclaren.... and yet 95% of aliens and people in general seem to be going with the Mclaren and BMW this season whereas before it was the RUF. I can't believe this is just coincidence, there is a reason why cars popularity in this series rise and fall !

Jaynos, surely you're not implying theres a financial motivation for each new GT3 car being faster than its predecessors :D

I see 2 sides to this though, on one hand i think its nice if each season things are a little different and the balance of power changes, just like it can IRL. At the same time, its 3x more expensive to be competitive if you're swapping, and you cant carry much knowledge across. That said, no 2 seasons are the same anyway, setups appear to be pointless after that week as game tweaks will deem them inferior to a new setup.

When they've created the Ford GT variant and built the DB9 (iirc) it'll be even more complicated and more expensive. You can be sure they'll be fastest too, purely coincidental, of course.

That's what I hate the most about iRacing.

Every new season the updates make all your set ups invalid and the cars feel like your playing a new game.

I also don't get why tyres behave differently between test sessions and races when the weather settings are identical.
