I was just wondering to myself whether you'd gone with the other cockpit or the R3v just a couple of days ago. Glad to see that you were able to get the one you wanted and are satisfied with the decision.

Good luck figuring out where you want all the various mounts going. I've swapped and tweaked things for months :D

I really want the speaker mount, but the price and the fact that i dont really need it put me off, its only the fact that there isnt really any other tidy option which makes me want it, it'd be so much tidier if the speakers were behind the seat and under the monitors, its idea for speaker placement and keeps wiring tidy. But £80 (iirc) is crazy. The problem is, im not so sure i could do something as capable for less and look acceptable, and not end up spending £60 and screwing it up :D

I missed VIR last week in the Skippy as I didn't have the track but was back in it for Road America yesterday. I do like the track but the race didn't exactly go as planned, started 11th and finished a reasonable 7th out of 14. I went into the back of someone, not only giving me 4xs but damaged me 5 laps in and had to limp home unable to really defend. Only got 6xs overall in the end which isn't too bad considering the 4 from one incident though.

I love RA in the Skippy if you get a couple of drivers of similar speed around you. I didn't do VIR either, I had a week off. Spent all week doing practice at RA in the GT3 and then didn't race in the end.

I'm away this weekend so really need to get at least one Skippy race in.

I did do a VIR race, was expecting it to be terrible as it's VIR North but actually it wasn't so bad, still the worst layout and in cars faster than the Skippy it's dire but it was tolerable :p

It was a bit fortunate but also unfortunate that the participation was so bad, no split but a big range of ratings (mostly low :p). I was ranked 2nd, but in qualifying I got 4th with the first 2 way faster, 3rd place marginally faster (less than a tenth) and the guy in 5th over half a second slower. So knew with a good start and a clean race I'd get 4th at least.

Around T1 I went around the outside of 3rd place, finishing it off through T2 into T3. Then he made a few errors and I did my best to hang onto the coattails of 2nd place (doing laps ~6 tenths quicker than qually, draft ahoy :p), built up a 2s gap and then basically maintained it for my first podium in what feels like an age.

Only 98 points due to SoF, but also as I only got 2 incidents (two 1x's) I got a nice 0.23 boost to SR and some more iRating :)

Not sure how much I'll get done over the next couple of weeks, got time off work but also just bought a new house (well tomorrow, technically) so going to be painting/installing cat6 etc and then moving

Hope you've got room set aside for the Obutto Revolution in your new house, you won't regret buying one. :D

There is space for it yeah :p But still waiting for the Rift/Vive to be sorted, wish they'd hurry up as it would be awesome to just get it, but not awesome enough to 'waste' £300+ on monitors :p

I finished 15th toady in the skippy out of 19, but to be fair I was in the top split. Some of those guys are ridiculously fast. My 500rs however has started to not register downshifts, it gets worse as the the race goes on, making it rather hard to keep my pace up the whole race.

Are you using the original static shifter paddles?

Mine misses upshifts.

Originally I moved to using my TH8 shifter in sequential mode. But after dropping and breaking the original PS3 GT Rim, I replaced it with the 458 rim and use the paddle shifters on that.

If you email Thrustmaster they will send you out some replacements at a cost of €16.40 shipped.

Yeah it's the original paddles, would it be hard to fit? I've emailed them to see what they say.

They took over two weeks to get back to me.

They sent me a PDF with the instructions on how to do it. Looks easy enough.

I can email you the PDF attachment if you like?

Send me a Trust message with your email address and I'll forward it you.

Interesting, I've been having problems with my F1 Wheel initially missing upshifts but it's getting worse as now the pit limiter (using top right button) and brake bias (top right rotary) keep randomly operating to :( I think I should email support and see what they say based on this.

At the end of the day, the Thrustmaster wheel base and rims, as good as they are, have a lot of plastic and cheap buttons. So I can't imagine that the switches inside are top quality. As many components as possible will be off the shelf to keep production costs down. And let's not forget it was originally designed as a console wheel.

Even the AccuForce wheel rim has identical looking buttons to the Fanatec rims.

Thanks, I've sent a trust. Not raced today but I did have an amazing day at Donning ton Park where I had a few passenger laps in a Radical SR3. It was amazing to feel the corner speeds and braking was incredible, the brakes feel as though your hitting a wall. At it is GT there this week, there was also some rather nice Ferraris, Astons, R8 and Ginetta's there as well. Not one the track though. :(

Replied to your trust. Not sure if you got it, had send from my phone.

If you didn't get it I'll send again when I get home on Sunday.

When I took my son for a driving experience they had a Radical there. Passenger rides only, which put me off so I didn't bother. Sounds like I missed a treat.

That cockpit hasn't ever come up in any searches I've done, or been recommended by any site I use.

Looks sturdy enough, as you say. As ever the price creeps up when you add in any extras. Most of which I would deem as required rather than extras.

Try asking in the iRacing forums.

I did get it thanks, it looks simple enough to do but Thrustmaster has still not got back to me yet. Race in the Skippy went rather well yesterday in the top split again and after starting 18th (I missed qualifying) I finished a decent 9th. There were plenty faster than me behind but I kept in on the track bar two small offs and kept myself out of trouble. The downshift issue also didn't appear that often for some reason, it only happened a couple of times.

I had two cracking races at RA in the Skippy. The second race had 4th to me in 11th racing really close. There were quite a few times when one particular driver didn't give any racing room at all and I had to back right out or put a wheel or two on the grass. There were plenty of position changes all the way through, at one point I was 4th. The last lap I had a clean move down the inside and the guy just cut across me a spun me. That was for 5th and I ended up 10th. Slightly disappointed but a really enjoyable race up until the last lap.

Might try and squeeze in another race tonight before Mosport.

Resubbed to Iracing recently to see how it is these days and I'm very impressed with the improved quality of driving in GT3 series. Maybe because it's a longer race or the cars are more evenly balanced (except FGT) but it's MUCH better now! It used to be an absolute nightmare but after 6 races at Silverstone I haven't been punted once and every race has been brilliant close racing, I don't think I've even seen a wreck with more than 2-3cars?! It completely transforms the experience when your competitors have a bit of patience and respect for each other.
