iRacing

I have a GT Omega with triple screens in the 2m space where a sofa bed was in the spare room.

Pic from when it went in (and before I sorted the messy cables out!)

Cool thanks for the piccies guys going to have a little think as I will be playing other games as well. Can't wait to get back into it though.

If you're looking at playing other games, particularly PC games with a keyboard and mouse then the Obutto Revolution is highly recommended. There's more than enough room on the keyboard tray to play FPS games. Even for someone like me that still uses the arrow keys.

And there I am with my T500rs, wheel stand pro and a desk. Going to be some sick Star Wars figures going on a shelf soon. :p :D John, what pedals are those?

If you look at the post I linked to, it shows the evolution of my set up over the last few years. So we all have to start somewhere. And before I had a G27 claimed to the desk I had a G25 and before that a Logitech MOMO.

I think those pedals are Fanatec Club Sport V1's

Sadly in less we move I doubt that I will be able to get a dedicated seat/setup for sim racing. Our box room is very small and there is already a wardrobe in there, I'm hoping for the rise of VR.

Got myG 27 back up and running. I last did some iracing actual races in 2013.

Just starting back from nought in the Global MX5 on Okayama short. Best lap I'ev had is 1:02, consistently doing 1:03s now. It's tough going. Do I remember correctly you could save other peoples ghost laps in the past? Is that still possible?

I know consistency if anything will help if I can do 1:02s, I think most front runnders on 1:01s so I'm not too far off.

Also, is there a way to socialise/follow through iRacing with the OcUK lot?

When your in the Rookie Mx5, as you said the main thing is being consistent. People make a lot of mistakes, even in the 'higher' skill level events, so just staying on the track will give you a decent result most of the time. We have slack which we use for organising our team events. Even if you aren't interested in doing them we post in there now mostly instead of here. Drop me a trust and i will invite you.

Cheers Mike, I'll let myself get a bit more comfortable first. I've done two races since returning and both relatively clean. I just go around at my pace, they don't get away but I'm not catching as such, if anything is much faster approaching I let them by, otherwise I'll race them. Only made a couple mistakes myself, I'm using the paddles + clutch and occasionally mis time it and end up in neutral, then get a big slide & on switching gear haha.

I need to hard mount my pedals to a board on the floor as they like to move a bit which doesn't help with my Nixim brake spring! Why the back of the pedlas is curved is beyond me as I could just stuck something behind them instead.

If I had more room I'd build a rig, as I'm currently sandwitched in a hsort space so the wheel is a little too close to be totally comfortable.

It's very satisfying hooking up a lap though, aiming for consisten 1:02s and see if I can drop into the 1:01s in a week or two.

Sadly there's no much of a track guide out there for the Global MX5 and Okayama Short. I only ever did Laguna with the old MX5s.

Mike, the pedals are Fanatec Club Sports, what would now be referred to as v1. Got them for a good price off a mate when he upgraded to the v2.

This was the "rig" about a year ago :

That's barmy's old G27. ;) Now on it's fourth owner, who owns a BTCC team...

Went to a full rig for a couple of reasons.
1) The Fanatec CSPs really need hard mounting as there's no logitech style carpet spike. I was making do at that time by using a heavy UPS to stop them creeping forwards.
2) A desk and chair weren't doing my back any good. Fine for 20 minutes, but a series of races over the night like the Kia series and I was hurting the next day.

The health benefits were well worth the couple of hundred quid...

Hi, l have the T500RS the pedals which also move on carpet l just put some stick on velcro on the underside of the pedals.

Works a treat no movement at all now.:)

Inventive Ghetto mod! Velcro did cross my mind, unfortunately the Fanatec have an open frame with some small feet pads so nothing suitable surface to attach the velcro to. So I went with a 15Kg lead acid battery!

You can buy velcro pre-cut dots or squares just stick them on the feet.

Ugh, I was just getting to grips with Okayama and then they change it to Limerock Chicaine. That track is like ice skating haha.

I might give Velcro a go but was gonna use an MDF base and route out grooves so I can adjust if necessary. It's all great until I heel/toe then they move sideways. Also going to adjust my desk so I can sit further back. I WILL master this.
