iRacing

i already subbed for a year mate so im good till april next year...

iracing is just a whole package to me theres nothing else like it great racing great community, clean and competitive racing is awesome...other games people dont care if they smash into you or dont finish a race but they do on iracing, dont get me wrong it does happen on it but not very often...

I find sticking to one series does help a bit, even for multiple seasons I can keep on learning how to drive quicker :)

Don't recall there being anything specifically for St Patricks day but fairly regularly around the June/July time iirc there's usually a half-price years sub, that's about the time they went public back in 2008.

Graveyard you really have pumped a lot of money into iracing :p. Im not far behind you though :p. I need to do 2 more time trials to get my A license. To the HPD mobile!

i have andy but i work on building sites so moneys not always there and work is thin on the ground atm and were lucky to be working now, so while i have money i wanted to cover myself so i could race...

the last thing on my list is a obutto so i hope i get it...

I've got myself above the 3.0 and eligible for the inRacing Challenge. Should I stick with the Mazda I know or learn how to handle one of the other cars? Practising a lot at the moment to get up to speed for later this afternoon.

Personally I'm not a massive fan of the MX5 so I'd be trying the Spec Racer Ford, handles much nicer once you get used to it imo.

But overall up to you, no real benefits/loss from trying the other two cars and really depends on what style of handling you like in a car.

One thing I would say is that if you're planning of going up the single seat route and using the Skip Barber next the SRF always used to be similar to the skippy handling wise so worth at least trying before buying the skippy as both cars can be a bit of a handful :)

You just can't help yourself can you :), I saw you post in the thread about the Fanatec wheel/CSP's, did you get them in the end?

Mixed bag really, 2 really good races, but long, 60 mins feels far more than 15 minutes longer than usual :p but 2 not so good, did join the 7:30 but guy got sideways out of T1 off the start, he was hit by someone else and span into me as I was passing, 21 minutes of repairs which I just cba with right now :p

But the good races were good, that extra time made it a bit nicer in some respects...

nah I never got them I'm happy with my set up right now, but I like the look of the clubsport pedals..I'm done now anyway obutto was my last thing I wanted....mind you i would like a frex shift +...

yeah I thought 60mins would be abit much, bummer on the crap 2 races, how are the tyres holding out for 60mins???

tyre's are fine as far as I can tell, although I did drop the psi a bit, overall your set seems to get looser as the race goes on but I think that's mostly just the fuel load going down and never gets unmanageable :)

sweet I didn't think you would still be using my set, I had a quick test earlier and with race fuel it needed more front end grip so I sorted that.I'm sure u said it need that aswell?

the set was abit oversteery any way as I think the car works better that way as a lot of other set I tried was understeeey and it takes the fun out of the car for me and I always mess up corners...

I'm gunna give the 9.30 race a blast...

Yeah, didn't really bother trying to get used to any others, yours is fast enough, can do 36.8's with no draft/low fuel, and I think I've done a couple of 37.2's in races where I'm not pushing quite so hard. Oh, and even with ~16 gallons in it (one too many I think) I can do a 38.0 so it's all good :)

I do find it a bit understeery with a heavy fuel load but you can get drive around that fairly easily and I don't think I'd want it any more oversteery at the end of the race so I think it works nicely over the whole distance...

I do agree that a slightly oversteery setup is far more fun, especially when you can balance it on the throttle in that beautiful point just between gripping and drifting :)

Good luck in the race, I'm done for the week (well, 2 weeks now :()

yeah cheers mate.

best i can do is a 1.36.9xx..

think ill go back to my original set and just load the fuel in...

will you still be doing practice for brands or will you go back to the skippy for a week, maybe ovals???

think i might give ovals a shot next season when i dont have to drive that crappy legends car...

Might pop in on tuesday, there's a possibility I'll get back in time to do the 9:30 race so probably should make some effort towards being ready...

But I'm tempted to spend most my time working on an SK setup and some races, been a long time since I did any of that, hours of fun just doing laps to eek out another 0.01s :p

man... got side swiped on first turn so i was last got back to 10th then the lad in 6th span so put me in 9th, last lap he caught me up and got past me which left me out of shape so the guy behind him was right on my rear end 2nd to last corner took me out, he said he was by the side of me but i never got the car on the left spotter telling me he was there, and on the replay he was at best near my rear wheel, the idiot...other than that good race...

Well, I keep looking at iracing. I don't fancy playing it with a pad or a joystick though so can someone spec me a decent cheap wheel, if thats not a contradiction.

Logitech driving force gt simply is the best wheel to buy then in time just upgrade the pedals.

a lot of the really fast guys still use the DFGT.

I have one that I was planning in saving as a back up wheel or to use with my ps3, so if you can't find one at a price you won't get back to me if you want to buy mine...

I'd go for the Logitech driving force gt. I had one before I got my g27 and it was a very good wheel. I only upgraded to a g27 because i wanted a better set of pedals. :)

andy do your self a favour and order the bodnar lead and Nixim mod it's transformed my pedals there soooooo much better and I'm more consistent.

I ordered a obutto aswell if your after 1 there's a guy on the well know auction site that's got 3 left...
