Hmm where did you read about the playseat not being stable.

I'm not keen on the center column that sits between your legs on the PlaySeat, not sure how much it gets in the way. That was the main reason I didn't buy one.... instead, I have a GT Omega. Had it for almost a year now, very solid and really comfortable. You should check them out before buying anything.

Take a look at the various sim-rig reviews on http://www.insidesimracing.tv/ - they've reviewed the PlaySeat and the GT Omega, plus a load of others.

only thing thats putting me off the GT omega is the keyboard mouse tray looks flimsy as hell and you cant adjust the pedal tray plus it looks too high...

I really dont know much about cockpits so I have a lot to learn it seems. The GT Omega looks very good. I use a Dell U2711 monitor and Im not sure if it can be mounted to a cockpit.

I think what Im after is, having my monitor on a proper desk and then a cockpit infront of it which can be moved depending on what game I play.

your monitor is VESA Compliant or so it says on the blurb on ocuk. so it can be mounted no bother.

so you could get the obutto or the gt omega...

im too lazy and tight on space to be moving a raceframe about, thats why i want a all in 1...

Ive never mounted anything to anything before, it wont be too hard I guess? The Obutto is really appealing to me now. I can have my monitor mounted to it, have the keyboard and mouse where I need them. Computer on the floor and my speakers on stands around me.

Hard mounting the wheel to the cockpit is optional I think, will you be hardmounting or just using the clamps?

probably hard mount but use clamps to start...

ive read loads of people that have them love them even for browsing and fps games they say its so good...

another thing i like is the seat is material so it wont get hot on them long sessions...

Sounds like fun, I'll probably do something this evening (I'll be trying to make the practice/help session), think my email should be visible in trust or send a PM via the forums (think you can send files via PM?) and I'll give it a go :)

How the heck do you get a good time round Okayama? :(

I can win races on Limerock Park but this is impossible for me. I must be missing something basic as I can't get within 3 seconds of the front rookie times. Any tips?

Can't really think of any specific corners at Okayama tbh, Hairpin you can brake very late for, the last corner is fairly important and if it's the short course the double right hander. Nothing really unusual, more variety than LRP but that's about it.

Yeah, I quite like it.

I did try David Burnett's though in Q and set a marginally quicker time on my second flying lap (got a 1x on the first), but that was the first quick laps I'd done since doing a fair few heavy fuel laps. His setup is more understeery, easier to get on the power but a bit more annoying to get into the apex.

yeah i had a blast with davids aswell, defo abit more understeer than mine but it did feel good.

wait to see what robert or maurice setups are like as them 2 are the 1s i use normally.

im just happy my setup worked, was stable and was on the pace...

Excting news from Iracing if you havent seen. Well its exciting for me :P. The rookie car on the oval side of racing is changing from the horrible Ford Legends car to the Street Stock car :D. I cant stand the Legends car and have been trying my best to get out of it so I am happy. It starts at the beginning of Season 2.

We also all get a free oval track and they say the new Cadillac CTS V will be free too. Pretty cool :)

Pity I already own the new free track :p

The Cadillac is kinda interesting as it appears they paid iRacing to scan the car, usually it's the other way around, seems it's a marketing push so they'll probably be a series/prize associated with it as well...

Just done an SK race on the oval side, probably not the best idea after ~70 laps of practice, no Q and didn't really have front running pace. Got caught up in a silly incident, reset and then self-span from 8th so I finished last or so. Could've gone better :p
