iRacing

lol told you, well done mate.

it is hard when your racing the f3 box to keep focus..

yeah david took too much of the inside kerb at cascades and it spat him off.

i might as well race as my first race i got wrecked so it wont make much difference to me...

EDIT= you have already raced tho so that would go against you average for the week tho right???

I was kinda relieved when I saw the distance open up on f3, but at the same time it was pretty intense trying to keep a semi-comfortable gap :p

Because I've done 2 races now the best result (the 144 points) is the one that counts, if I do a third race then it'll be an average of the top two results, fourth will be average of top two, fifth is average of top 3, etc etc etc. So racing right now is almost definitely gonna drop my points for the week :(

I wonder how long it would take (and how much it'd cost) to get a new account to Radical level... :p

What's the recommended route to the radical? With any luck I should be out of rookie soon!

No real recommended route, and really depends how quickly/cheaply you want to do it. In theory you could skip a D-class car by getting your SR to D4.0 with one of the rookie cars and eligible series (things like the Grand Touring Cup might be cleaner than the rookie series) Then you can race the Radical straight away (although I'd do 4x TT's just to get your C-Class licence first though as that'll give you a bit of a buffer to getting demoted :)

Just checked and I'm now 2nd in division 2 (albeit with Andrew Smart sitting on only 7 weeks counted only 20 points back), bit irritating but I think that's clinched it, I'll either pick another series or attempt to get a second account up and running :p

when I hit 4.0 SR (at 3.63 atm) will I go up to D? or do you have to wait for those kind of jumps, will I be able to race more?

Yes, the fast track means that as soon as you've got your SR over 4.0 (and having done either 4 TT's or 4 Races) you'll get instantly promoted :)

you got to d class instantly mate...

josh i never knew it worked like that cheers. but it didnt work like that for me this week, first race i got 37 champ points then 98 then 107 but my score has only risen by 37 points now...

theres no way you can go all weekend without racing this awesome combo...

you've got to rename this Josh guy, its my name and very confusing reading through! haha =]

Stole my name! :p

Just had a look, quite a few fun sounding races for the rest of the weekend:
Grand-Am @ VIR Full
Indycar @ Oulton
Skippy @ Suzuka
MX-5's @ Okayama Short
SRF @ Summit Short

I think I can just about cope with not racing again, maybe...

Definitely back in the Radical next week, but possibly/probably not anymore this weekend

Didn't see you mention your points, but just gone through it, and ultimately it boils down to drop weeks, prior to this week you had a 'full' 8 weeks worth of scores which were: (Week - Points)
1 - 71
2 - DNS
3 - 83
4 - 76
5 - 69
6 - 64
7 - 75
8 - 73
9 - 84

So when you scored 37, 98 and 107 this week this means that the 37 gets dropped and the average of the other two is your current weekly score, which is 102.5, or listed as 102. I'm not sure if they simply truncate or do <something else> with the fractions.

So as you already had 8 scores you now lose one, namely week 6 with 64 points, and replace that with the 102, this should give you a raise of 38 points it seems (you said 37 which makes me wonder about those fractions...)

Now you can run a fourth race with no possible drop in score (can still gain score obviously be getting more than 98), it's the race after that can affect it...

And obviously next week if you get more than 69 your overall will creep up a bit, and the next one possible dropped week after would be the 71 points.

run some hosted, or do some oval?:p
and VIR is a pain :/

Did look at oval, nothing that really jumps out, Tour Mods or Late Models might be ok if I get bored...

VIR is great fun :)

Yes, so if you do a full 12 week season your worst 4 weeks don't count (or you can completely skip 4 weeks if you are busy/don't like the track/cba)

VIR is, imo, a great little track, some interesting corners, some technical bits and some simpler bits, and I like that it has so many layouts, Grand East is one of, if not the longest of those layouts though and could be quite tricky to learn. Unfortunately I'm away next weekend but gonna make sure I get back with enough time on Sunday to at least get 2 races in (and of course doing a good job of testing prior to going away), really would like to finish top 3 in my division...

It was one based off the one you shared in the session on tuesday, iirc for the Q time I had the tyre pressures are 23 front, 22.5 rear, and the rear bump/rebound at 5 and 6 (can't remember what order they're in, but 5 being the 'top' one on the setup page). I added that extra click to the bottom one as it seemed to make it that bit edgier, which is a bit quicker if you keep it hooked up.

Then for the race I dropped the psi's to 22 front, 21 rear iirc, bump/rebound to 5/5 and that was it.

Cheers btw, was a really nice set once I'd got properly used to it :)

no worrys, ah coolio thought you used a different one, i remember you talking about one in a earlier post...

yeah bump and rebound both on 5 felt the best, the set came alive for me mid race felt i could push abit more then...

thinking to myself tho i should really keep my sets to me self really, id give them to you obviously but seems most are using mine as others arent posting them as much..

but on the other hand it gets more peeps racing and feeling more comfy in the car...

The only other setup that I tried was the Paul Thurston Q set, which was ok but nothing significantly better/worse than yours so I stuck with what I knew :)

Definitely more consistent with both on 5, I initially found Cascades was one of the worst corners but the slight tweak made it a nothing, to the extent that I was consistently power sliding out of it

It's a bit tough with setups, like you say it helps participation but must be a bit irritating when very few others are making any efforts to share there setups so most people are using yours.

I would actually quite like it if when you connected to an official session the sim uploaded the setup and then provided download links on the results page, so everyone has to share their setup, the moaning from some people would just make it even better :p

yeah cascades i gained a couple of tenths with that tweak as i could keep it tight to the inside kerb and get the power on early...

not a bad idea about the setups..but so many keep them and dont let them out they would be soo annoyed at that.

robert hopes sets i like bar a couple he made, but i dont know were his gone now think his in the star mazda...

Class D :)

Happy days.

Been running consistent low 1.02's round Okoyama short in the MX5, though it seems the faster guys can run about a second faster than that.

Time to grind to class C

I quite like the look of the Star Mazda too, but I would say that as the only racing games I've played other than this are GT and the Codies F1 games.
