One thing I seem to have about me is a knack to get through tracffic and overtake in places people shouldn't overtake. I saw the gap and was 90% I could hold her, gutted I forgot to save the replay of that and the rest of the session. Best one ive had in ages.

Ill defo be up for joining it next season this season i need to get my head into the MP4. I've wanted to step up to the lotus for a while. I need to buy some extra tracks and buy a new years sub in a few weeks so I cant commit to the CTC yet. there is one requirment and thats commitment for a whole season.

Will be awesome when Donnigton updated silverstone Montreol ect are there on the calander.

I ahve a paint scheme mate all my cars are British Racing Green apart from the MX5 and Lotus 79 which are matt black:p

Yeah, just watching us go around the track with each other looked pretty amazing. Can't find a single fault with these cars :p

You need every car to be red. It makes you faster, which I proved by having a faster time :D

All that track time helped me get used to the load cell brake a bit more. Think I'm starting to get the hang of it.

is it true that driving aids such as auto clutch and driving line add a time penalty to your laps? I haven't noticed this when learning but a mate says they do? Is he talking balony?!

There's no penalty as such, and driving line doesn't do anything, but auto-clutch is slower than a well times non-assisted gearshift, which is where the time 'penalty' comes in.

Personally I'm lazy, on cars that require the clutch (MX-5 and Mustangs being the main ones, maybe others) I use auto-clutch, other cars like the Skippy don't need the clutch so I turn off auto-clutch and I manually lift on upshifts and blip on downshifts

A perfect lap both ways definitely favours no aids - the difference is typically under 0.25 seconds, and if you factor in the chances of missing a gear, having more to think about, etc... the difference is very small, and unless you are very consistent with shifting it might make you slower. But as SKILL says, there's no reason to have the cars with sequential shifters in auto-blip mode as it's much harder to miss a shift in those compared to H-pattern.

Did you see my previous reply regarding rotation?

Yeah thanks I have been having a play tonight and the mx5 doesn't need more than 90 degrees unless I fluff up the corner.

Unlocked the v8 car to have a play about with. Not too impressed with it really! It's just like a faster mx5 with an annoying downshift protection mechanism. Having much more fun blasting about in the skippy so maybe ill concentrate on the open car route. Just thought v8 would be useful as they love the v8s down here!

Had a quick blast on Oaky in the MP4 last night, managed a 31.5, which I was quite pleased with, compared to Spils .29 odd. That was after about 10 laps so I can definitely improve.

I'm slow at Interlagos though.

I watched a replay lap a guy posted to help me learn the best line and gear to be in. He did a 1:31.4, but I'm 4 seconds slower than that with no hope of going much faster. When I watch the replay there are times when he is applying maximum brake, yet I don't get anywhere near that without locking up, even though I'm using his set up. Is that because he's using a loadcell brake?

Plus I get loads of understeer, I can turn the car in the same way as the replay. He seems to get the car turned in with loads less steering angle than me. Sometimes I'm turning the wheel nearly 180 degrees.

Hmmm. Not sure - perhaps the replay fidelity is not high enough to see exactly what his inputs were? I was gonna suggest you sent me his and your replays to compare... but I don't have Interlagos :(

Nice laps mate thats kinda what i was hitting at the start. Theres a lot of time to be made at T2 honestly go slow into it keep the car balanced and you can get on the power so bloody early I picked up nearly .7 just there. Next big place to make time up is the uphill right hand hill before the long straight. If you get on the power and have to lift there you will kill your time.

Brake nice and early put the car into the bend nice and stable and come onto the power nice and slowly just before the revs get to high and the back wheels start to slip change up to 3rd.

Only other place to find time is by keeping it all smooth through the tight infield section.

And make sure you are smooth in the last bend and come down to 2nd if you have to that will get you about .3 I was taking it in 3rd for ages till I realised gaining me about .3

My time was also done with a full tank of fuel mate. I only did a quick practice session.

Ps im about to send you my Oaky setup now two minutes mates

If thats in the MP4 mate I use 100% braking force in most the heavy braking zones. You need to play with the ABS setting and brake Bias.

O and I don't use a load cell I use a old set of g25 pedals that spike half the time. So its nothing to do with hardware. The car just move around when Im on the brakes, you just have to learn how to control that.

Mp4 is one of the few cars I stamp on the brakes. But you can get away in a big cute GT3 car. Big dopey thing.

O and just to confirm on the Mp4 I barley move the steering move that 90 degrees. Unless its to counter steer, or into a really tight hairpin.
This is the thing with the MP4 once you start to induce understeer the front tires heat up get hotter than the back wheels and no matter what you do the front end will get worse and worse.

If you look at my setup I try to balance the heat between all 4 tires with no more than 5-10 degrees difference between front and back. To be honest i get worried when theres more than a few degrees differnce. as what happens is if the backs get hotter you will oversteer, front gets hotter understeer. Soons this starts to happen if you dont back out of it for a few bends the cars tires will get hotter and hotter and hotter.

Learn to drive at 95% of your pace best way to do this si follow someone around your pace and try to pin them to around 1-1.5 seconds infront of you but without pushing to much I do this with Peter Thomas who i drive with a lot and do it with Liam when ever I'm following him.

I see a lot of people and the only pace they can drive at is flat out, They soon fall off the track in a race. Learn to drive off the line also.

Find the limit of the front wheels then dont go past there.

How can I be overheating the tyres if I'm slower in the corners than almost everyone I race against.

Overheating the tyres is probably why you're slower than almost everyone. The way the tyres are the now, they are much faster when colder. Slow down to speed up, if that makes sense.

Of course, the fact that the tyres are faster when colder is a joke, even more of a joke that it's been like that for 2 years. For maybe the first year of that they denied it was a problem, at least now they do admit it but there's no hope of it being fixed any time soon.

I'm confused.

The only place I can save the tyres is in the corners, which is where I'm slower.
