Got assigned a team in the CTC, I think I'm in love with my car now :p

Looking good. Are you category B now and able to do official races or just doing practices? What's the best track for the '79? May just pick it up and a good track for fun time blasts round it when mates are over. I'm going to stick to the Star Mazda for now :)

I'm still doing each of the Mazda races each week during my first season, but this week is 5 and it isn't one in the results screen? Is this normal and has it just reverted to week 1 again as there are only 4 tracks in the Mazda rotation?

I had two races last night in the MX5, the first was the mixed cup with Jettas and Solstices - great fun, I really like that mix up.

Shame that on the 2nd lap two Jettas in front of me tangled and literally left me no where to go... wrote me off.

So I set out on an MX5 only race. Started from the pit because I enjoy working my way through the pack. 6 laps in and I'm 3rd, go for a late brake up the inside and the guy just turns in. We both go off. He decides to return straight back in to the path of pack, every single car gets tagged and span out... hilarious to watch but a complete horror show.

Thing is, that was technically my fault because my overtake starting the chaos. :D

My license is looking a bit battered this week.

Yeah, I got my B class a while back. I think Oulton Park is the best for the 79 probably, I could just do laps of that and never get bored. You also get quite a few good layouts with it.

Figured out the week thing. It looks like the first 4 weeks are Season 2 in the MX5 races and then the rotation starts again as Season 2B.

Had two bad races tonight in the MX5 series. First one the number 1 car spun off on the first corner and loads of cars crashed into him. No chance avoiding the pile up. 2 hours later I tried again and the same guy was 1st on grid (his mate must have qualified for him or something). I was 3rd on grid and he made it round the first corner this time but took the 2nd place guy out with him on the second corner. I was first for a while until some idiot intentionally rammed me off going down the pit straight and totalled my car :(

The guy who nudged me off also nudged someone else off who caught him up and was clear 20 seconds into the lead by driving dirty. I laughed as someone exited the pits in front of him and drove slowly in front of him allowing the other cars to catch up. He tried ramming them off and totalled his car so didnt end up coming first! I hate being stuck in iRating hell :( It's luck if you get a clean race now as people are always crashing into others or knocking you off on purpose.

I think the main problem is some people are unrealistic in defending a position.

If the guy behind you has easily caught you up, it's safe to say he's faster so let him through.

I'm not suggesting 'don't race' but if there's a void, don't try and fill it because they lead to mistakes.

Unfortunately most people don't see it this way. I had a guy zig-zagging all over the place day before last, after 3 laps of it I got tired so I love tapped him off... I carried on happy as larry.

The lotus is fun everywhere best car in the sim imo.

My fav tracks with it are Brands - Watkins - Oulton

If you buy the Lotus let us know and ill host up a session :)

I wasn't defending the position that's the thing. We had just finished a lap and he had been slowly catching up. We hit the corner just before the looong straight going past the pits and I thought fair enough he will pass on the the long straight which he did but intentionally knocked me off by side swiping me as we were going down the straight and he was overtaking. He did the same to someone else too. I always let faster people pass safely if its obvious they are faster.

I noticed you were in a Prototype race/session today, what's the Corvette like to drive compared to the MP4?

I've been toying with getting either the Corvette or the Ford GT.

The Corvette isn't too bad. It doesn't slow down quickly and it loves understeer but once you figure that out its pretty fun to drive. I wouldn't get it if you like to have loads of other cars in your class to race with though, in the Prototype race that I did there was 23 HPDs which are lightning fast and don't like it if you don't let them past instantly(one of them crashed into the back of me going up onto the long straight at WG). Then there was 3 Corvettes which one of them crashed out at the start and then the last 7 cars where Ford GTs.

Every multi class race I've seen involving them there doesn't seem to be much of them, I think the MP4 probably has the biggest multi class participation so I'd probably say just stick with the MP4 or maybe move to a different series after that(L79 or Radical maybe).

I'm not good enough for the Radical yet, so the Lotus is probably out too.

At least the Corvette can race in two series, GT Challenge and Prototypes.

Maybe consider the HPD? After reading about it a lot of people say thats its easy to keep on the road but difficult to get fast in so that sounds pretty good to me if you don't have a lot of time to learn a difficult car. I'm considering running it alongside the Lotus since that takes up majority of my time.

The chances are I'll end up buying all the cars that race in the GT, Grand Am and Prototype series. I think I need to buy three tracks to complete the Grand Am series for this season, so I might get 3 cars at the same time.

In fact I'm enjoying iRacing enough to end up buying all the road courses and cars at least. Even the oval racing in the rookie series is pretty good most of the time.

Yeah, I'm the same. I'm slowly buying every road track and car. I only need to buy Pocono and Virginia to have all the tracks that the Lotus does, I'm going to have to pick another series to run midweek though since the Lotus races don't go official until the weekend and I get an itch to race most evenings :p

Not tried the HPD in a while but that's good fun, been driving the Vette a bit with the British GT league on a Sunday, the sound alone is worth driving it for :p

It's quite nice other than that as well though, I've always found with it that I lack 'feel' from the brakes, but hopefully that'll come with time.

It's quite nice once you own all the content, 30% off everything, if you ignore the amount you spend to get there it's all good :p I believe now they also do the 25% for 'majority' of road content? didn't look too closely at what that really meant though as I already had it all...

Lotus rotate tracks from season to season. If you buy Pocano and VIR theres a good chance they wont be used next season.

Ive not tried Pocano but I have VIR and I don't like it very much but you might love it we all have different tastes.

I used to really like the HPD car but they kept slowing it down and now it feels kind of bland.I used to be able to beat my Lotus laptimes with the HPD but not now.

Its a shame guys cant try out cars and tracks before they buy as this sim can be costly I have full content and hardly drive most of it.

All I want is the Lotus 49 and a dozen good road tracks you can bin the rest of it for me tbh the L79 will do until the 49 comes out if it ever does lol.

I seem to like every track eventually, I guess once you do so many laps around a track and get the hang of it you will always like it somewhat. I don't really mind buying tracks even if they won't be used with the Lotus again since they'll be useful in other series hopefully. I'm considering the HPD to run alongside the 79 but the community doesn't seem all that great. I reckon once the Lotus 49 is released I'll be driving that and the 79 exclusively.
